The last time we went down to Wexford Park, we were beaten by 23 points. Tonight it was only nine. Another example of the phenomenal improvement under Cake. If we continue on this trajectory, the sky is the limit. Some super scoring tonight too - as we registered a tremendous nine points. If not for the unfair sending off of Mickey Bambrick we might even have won tonight. It's all about small margins and that was a pivotal moment. We remain second in the table tonight. Primed for promotion to the sunlit uplands of Division Three. In Cake we Trust. CARPS (Carlow) - Posts: 952 - 15/02/2025 21:34:02 2591232Link 0

Our senior hurlers beat Waterford 2 weeks ago (all Ireland finalists only 4 years ago), and hammered Wexford' last night in setu carlow, (division 1A team), and this forum can only talk about basement D4 football, and the selection of bad underage football teams… Do we really want something positive to follow, or negatives to bitch about!! Amazing!! Carlowtothecore1 (Carlow) - Posts: 80 - 15/02/2025 22:21:20 2591248Link 1

Depressing stuff tonight. Outclassed for 50 of the 70 minutes, & very little to show for the 20 minute purple patch at start of 2nd half. Smokeless Red (Carlow) - Posts: 38 - 15/02/2025 22:27:16 2591250Link 0 |
Agree 100%. But that's Carlow all over for you. Delusional supporters. Think they're in contention for Sam Maguire. There's a great hurling team here, but half the county still thinks it's all about dysfunctional football. Because we won a Leinster 81 years ago. The reality is Carlow is going nowhere in football. Anyone who thinks otherwise is off their rocker. The whole exercise is a pointless waste of time. CARPS (Carlow) - Posts: 952 - 15/02/2025 22:50:33 2591254Link 1

Carlow got 5 scores from play tonight against Wexford - a very poor Division Four team. CARPS (Carlow) - Posts: 952 - 15/02/2025 22:57:32 2591258Link 0

| Straight red in literally last few seconds of the match. It was very very harsh. As soon as play resumed after showing the red he blew for full time. Mickey reacted to a foul on him as he ran through but he didn't raise a hand or strike with a fist etc. To be suspended now for Limerick next week is very harsh and he's a big loss. | Great win but only a challenge game with both teams down players including two from each side involved in the Fitzgibbon Cup final at the same time. Scored five goals and Wexford had Lee Chin back so very impressive win. But, a win when it matters v Leix next weekend is will have people talking. | Noticed that as well. Subs seemed to go in at half time. In fairness the team did come out firing for start of second half. Butchered a great goal chance when they had it back to 5 points but when that went abegging it was curtains after that and team seemed to accept defeat. A lot of naive play especially in the first half given the conditions when handling the ball was going to be so difficult and we kept losing it around the middle with mishandled passes when driving it in would have seemed a better option. An example of naivety was something that happened twice in the second half. In the middle of the field Wexford fouled and ref gave advantage, arm clearly raised, and all Carlow did both times was pass it around sideways and backwards between themselves. Surely if the ref has given the advantage then if nothing obvious is on just launch it long into the square and hope a forward wins it. If he does it's a scoring chance close to goal, if not and Carlow lose possession inside we still get the free anyway back in the middle. This happened twice in quick succession and no one on the Carlow sideline seemed to notice. You really would wonder. Onion Breath (Carlow) - Posts: 1683 - 15/02/2025 23:25:56 2591268Link 0 |
Naieve is the exact word I'd use. 3 times in the first half we won a free in a kickable position & we decided to solo & go straight into traffic. I couldn't understand it Smokeless Red (Carlow) - Posts: 38 - 16/02/2025 09:14:15 2591282Link 0

Carlow won by 18 or so. Chin was back for ye. We played again against Kildare yesterday with mostly panel players & few returns from injury. Lost by few points. Laois next Sunday is the win we want carlo (Carlow) - Posts: 290 - 16/02/2025 10:30:19 2591299Link 0
From an outsider ,I couldn't agree with you more ,your hurlers are so close to making more of a break threw and carlow seem more worried about a d4 game Timmy86 (Sligo) - Posts: 346 - 16/02/2025 11:42:44 2591307Link 0
I think you should gave another look at that incident, Bambrick was fouled but clearly reacted with an elbow to Porter. It really was silly from him, the game was almost over and he'll face suspension now for a needless red card. Yellaman (Wexford) - Posts: 194 - 16/02/2025 13:12:46 2591325Link 0
