Replying To Barrowsider:  "The Carlow regional under 16s tournament started tonight. Have to say I was delighted to see it start off so well. As ye know I have been posting about regional teams for years in here and to see it finally happen was great. This can only be positive for football in Carlow and hopefully it goes from strength to strength rolling out to all ages."
Positive vibes all round last night Hope the next few weeks build on that positivity. Regional teams have a future !

Would you rate them highly?

I'd like to know why M Graham walked away from Leitrim after committing and then walked into the Galway setup ??

Stephen Poacher was the best coach Carlow had since the 1980s. The players loved him; but the county board forced him out - because that's Carlow all over for you.

Leitrim will suit him - as it's also an underdog county. You've a great chance of staying up in Division Three now, and maybe contesting for the Tailteann.

Dan St Ledger has worked wonders at St Sylvesters. He got them promoted back to Senior 1 in his first season and he's kept them up for the past two years. No mean feat, especially given Syl's are based in an area that's not a traditional GAA heartland - Malahide is more soccer and rugby.

Alas, poor Carlow, we are going nowhere. And will go nowhere until we somehow find better quality officials. And that will require a change of mindset from the clubs. So, it ain't gonna happen.

As a matter of interest do you know if he has resigned his position with St. Sylvester's.

Replying To CW88:  "All players on the panel the last 2/3 years were invited to a meeting in the talbot last Sunday morning. There were no selectors there, just manager and S&C. Not a good start, I believe."
Can you enlighten us why? Poor turnout? Manager not make an impression?

Just wondering as I haven't seen it anywhere yet - what is the makeup of the Carlow senior football backroom team? Selectors, coaches, S&C, analysis? Must all surely be in place by now, it's almost November.

I love your optimism. You obviously have little knowledge of carlow county board operations.

Anyone know what's the story with Bagenalstown Gaels players in this? Have they pulled the plug as only one representative on the panels named. Taught they were the strongest group at u16? Hard to see how this can be a success with strongest players missing

No interest with the players is what is being said so the club as a whole pulled out. Something seems to have went wrong there this year, didnt make a final in the championship knocked out in hurling too when they won both at 15s, not a good sign there for the future as they could have been an age group that kept the town goin for a long time

Bagenalstown and myshall. Soccer seems to be the excuse given but they all play that. I'd say coaches not bothered with it.
This is a trial it won't be perfect but I can see a few key ways it could be greatly improved

Things don't seem right there. Discipline issues on and off the field continuously

Seems like a great initiative, it was great to be able to watch the matches on the live stream. I would love to see it replicated in Wicklow. In what way can they make it better ?

After to days result St Mary's Ardee (LH) 3-14 Abbeylara (LD) 2-8, St Mary's have to be firm favourites against Rathvilly, never the less its on wards and upwards, Rathvilly will surely give it all they got.

Ardee will walk it, I reckon.
