Cheers for that. Thought it looked weird with only Leinster final only game on the Sunday but after Dublins exit suddenly it looks the most significant of all four provincial finals. Hope it gets a bumper crowd. shaggykev (Donegal) - Posts: 312 - 28/04/2025 20:13:34 2605156 Link 0 |
TV money I'd say, going to be a tight battle with Armagh, think we'll shade them by a point or two though. Hopefully.

Totally agree, I don't think Oisin had a bad match yesterday. Anyway in general some players have off days. Other take a while to get up to speed after a bad injury. It's important to support players because of the huge sacrifice and commitment they give. They are amateurs after all and it's the least they deserve. We are in an Ulster Final after all and let's enjoy it instead of trying to constantly criticise the team. Scenicparish (Donegal) - Posts: 470 - 28/04/2025 21:04:52 2605160 Link 2 |
He had a a very rigorous fitness test all through half time of the Monaghan game.He obviously had an injury and may not be 100% but his movement and ability to find pockets of space is at a different level and that was good on Sunday as well.He didn't get many shots off choosing to keep moves going and not going in to contact much.

I've criticized him twice ever. The last two games. I'm allowed to have an opinion. Even if it's wrong in peoples eyes. Plenty of people are saying he's been poor not just me. God forbid someone has an opinion!

Fair enough. I've complained about him twice in my entire time posting here. You're allowed to voice your opinion. He's not reading these comments is he? I doubt anyone outside of the people who post here are reading any comment. I thought he was poor, end of. Not slagging anyone. I hope he plays well the next day. eddieSize5Balls (Donegal) - Posts: 128 - 29/04/2025 02:03:47 2605208 Link 0 |
That's fair. Didn't mean to offend anyone in here but I'll never be someone afraid to say how I feel. I didn't watch the game back after my initial watch. Hopefully he has a big game in the ulster final. Not trying to criticize the team but you can go about all the time praising them when stuff go wrong. We're all entitled to our opinions. I was talking to my friend who plays senior club and he said he has to be injured so he's probably just finding his feet again. eddieSize5Balls (Donegal) - Posts: 128 - 29/04/2025 02:07:04 2605209 Link 0 |
Sorry lads. I've definitely overreacted the last two games (and one or two league game) rewatched the game just now. Down made it tough for our lads to get going and we do have some injuries and are trying to bed players back in. eddieSize5Balls (Donegal) - Posts: 128 - 29/04/2025 03:06:09 2605214 Link 0 |
Totally agree there amateur players who put in a huge effort. Been saying it for years.

I thought Gallen was decent on Sunday too. He confirmed in an interview with highland that he was working his way back from injury (a quad tear I think he said) and was trying to get his body back up to speed. I have a feeling he'll have a big game in him next day out. WeGoAgain (Donegal) - Posts: 63 - 29/04/2025 09:57:58 2605255 Link 0 |
Best wishes to the u20 team tomorrow evening over in Owenbeg. A massive game for them against a very good Tyrone team. Roarty up against McElhom would be a great battle. For anyone who can't make it, game is live on TG4 tomorrow evening! dgcrusader (Donegal) - Posts: 82 - 29/04/2025 10:39:27 2605269 Link 1 |
I think we've all impulsively reacted to a game soon after without watching back and often it can change one's view. For what it's worth I think Gallen done pretty well. He played a beautiful hand pass for the goal. Similar for the one O'Donnell blasted over with Murphy waiting for a tap in. He probably made the right decision taking a point with his fisted effort to get things ticking but a goal was very much on there too. We also had 2 excellent goal chances but in fairness to the Down keeper he smothered them well. I do think we are making goal chances but are either not clinical enough or taking the point. It's definitely somewhere we can improve and need to improve. Yes Down had their chances too. The misplaced hand pass and the one on one especially. However the latter came from a poor kick out the second the otherwise excellent Patton got away with. Brannigan also snatched a half chance wide but there were Donegal bodies back so not clearcut. I was happy enough leaving Clones on Sunday and reaffirmed after watching the replay and seeing other results. The division 2 sides are showing up well bar the Rossies who were very flat. Down are a very well coached team. I rate Lafferty and given more time and potentially finding a player or two they wouldn't be too far away. They set up well on kick outs and got many of their match ups right. However while we rode our luck a couple of times we were able to get through to the final without having to hit the heights. Different players are stepping up which is great to see and we'll be hard stopped down the line but we'll also need to improve. Armagh will be a big step up given how well set up they are, physical presence and no lack of skill with an excellent keeper with kick out options to match. Best of luck to the twenties on Wednesday in what will be a mammoth task. I still don't agree with the location not just the logistical side but from a prestige perspective. This is one of the main provincial finals and playing in a centre of excellence takes away from it for me but I'm sure some of you will have reasons to disagree. Hopefully they can get over the line. The semi final is down for the same day as the Ulster final, yet more planning brain farts. panamasam (Australia) - Posts: 2851 - 29/04/2025 11:06:36 2605282 Link 1 |
Agree on Laverty as a coach and Down generally, but they desperately need to find a couple of forwards to support Havern if they want to compete for Ulster and beyond. They can only be set up so well without being more clinical. CCFabu (Donegal) - Posts: 159 - 29/04/2025 11:25:31 2605291 Link 0 |
Agree with you on the goal threat and us needing to be more clinical. Just taking Conor O'Donnell's one at the start of the second half. I don't want to be too critical, because at least he got a point, but as you say - a simple wee hand pass across to Murphy and he could have had a cup of tea while putting it away. If you take Kerry in a similar situation, that was a goal all day long. As the bigger tests arrive, we'd need to be way more ruthless and clinical.

Totally agree certain people can't have an opinion unless you are a yes man. Plus certain people can't be criticised but it's OK to criticise other people.

Obviously a wee bit early for this yet, but was just looking at the seeding for the AI group stages to get an idea of what could be considered a kind draw versus a so-called group of death. Lockjaw (Donegal) - Posts: 9739 - 29/04/2025 15:04:14 2605407 Link 1 |
its going to be Cork or Cavan from pot 4, we can't play Derry or Down as we've played them already

Are you sure? We got Tyrone in the group last year despite already meeting them in the Ulster semi-final? But maybe they've changed the rule this year to avoid that?
