Replying To Ulsterchamps72:  "Sure I'll play along and give you the facts. Ballaghaderreen was once upon a time, part of County Mayo. It became a Roscommon town under the Local Government Act of 1898. There are two versions of the reasons behind this, one being, that the Mayo local authority of the time owed a sum of money to its Roscommon counterpart and basically just handed over the town so that the people who lived there could pay off the debt through their rates. The second account holds the local MP of the time felt the rates charged by the Mayo local authority were too high, certainly in comparison to those paid to the Roscommon authority and so he had the boundary redrawn to place the town in Co. Roscommon. Take your pick! Ballaghaderreen is in Co. Roscommon by nearly 5 miles and in fact Ballaghaderreen GAA underage players compete for Co. Roscommon in the Community games. Ballaghaderreen is in Roscommon. Perhaps Yew can bail you out with regards to a neutral venue decision, but I doubt it.
Now, back to the game as I don't think you can dispute what you should have learned in School."
In fact Balla players compete for Roscommon in community games? All of them ? Do they now ? Who is telling you this ? I love how you are pretending to be an expert on this which you clearly aren't. I am from East Mayo and grew up playing against the Balla boys. You have half baked information. But please feel free to pretend you know more than people from the area.

Please send us the reference for that change this year. I heard and I was chatting someone don't count. We need the exact reference as I believe it doesn't exist."
I don't have an exact reference or rule to quote or send. As I said just what I was told. Don't shoot the messenger.

Check out Malachy Clerkins article with the great Johno, Irish Times Sat Jul 29 2017, it explains all for you. This is the referenced article you sought as you didn't apoear to do local history at school. PS, I worked in Ballaghaderreen for a number of years, so have the insight into the place and Durkins is a much better public house than Solan's. Ballaghaderreen, however remains in Co Roscommon. I've to sign off as I've been lucky enough to get Munster final tickets and have to head in.

Ah the great Johno and one article tells us everyone represents Roscommon in the community games and speaks for all underage players. Nope. Ah of course you worked there for years. Of course.

Man who claims to have worked in Balla for years only states it now and only after using the article he googled first for his research. Absolute bluffer.

Agreed TirChonaill1, on reflection I should have considered the The Parable of the Donkey and the Tiger, which highlights the futility of arguing with someone unwilling to consider truth or reality. I was the Tiger by the way. Donegal by 5+ and on we go.

Hoping for a big performance on Sunday. Mayo will not be easy but can see us winning by about 6. None of the panel allowed to play for there club's at weekend.

Replying To SouthOfTheGap:  "Word is that Caolán McGonagle is out for the rest of the season, and if rumours are to be believed, Jason McGee is finished completely and won't make a comeback from his injury. I'm also told that apart from his ankle woes that Shaun Patton requires shoulder surgery, but I'm sure that'll wait till the off season. Haven't heard anything about Niall O'Donnells injury, hopefully it's not too bad.

But the good news is that it appears that other injuries are clearing up, and the likes of Eoghan Ban has two good games under his belt. And both Peadar Mogan and Caolán McColgan got the full 70 against Cavan without showing any ill effects.

I feel if we have a first half performance against Mayo like the 2nd half performance against Cavan, then I can't see us being held."
What is the injury McGee has? I thought it was a torn hamstring that was just taking its time recovering but sounds like something else? I could be remembering that wrong mind.

St. Nauls must have 15 county men then at they gave a walkover at home yesterday?

Strange given they took a 26 man panel to Meath last week.

We need to win or we need Tyrone to beat Cavan to be 100% certain of going through, getting a win over Mayo in Dr Hyde Park will be no easy feat based on Mayo's record there since 2001.

Injuries is massive problem at the moment, Jason McGee, Caolan McGonigle and Shaun Patton are major concerns, but otherwise I think Jim will have the team well prepared and it should provide Donegal with the type of stern challenge we need to figure out where we are at.

I hope Kevin McStay is recovering well, he is someone I have always held in high regard and I know this is a difficult time for him and his family.

A reoccourence of the hip/pelvis complaint that he had the operation on in the off season: but honestly don't know for sure, it could all be just yarns stemming from the vacuum of having no information. I hope it is just a hamstring. But a 6 week injury now at this time of the year is season over territory.

With a game each weekend for the next three a realistic possibility, I'd say Jim took the caution first approach by not having the extended panel playing for their clubs at the weekend. I'm sure he had them busy over the weekend with other activities, video sessions etc.

Teams not fielding should be deducted a point along with losing the game. Bottom of Division 2 is extremely tight. If it ends up being decided on points difference, a team could stay up because they gave a walkover and avoided a hammering.

Patton is the main one for me, if fit I think Donegal will win if not Mayo will draw or win. Rochford after the win against Tyrone said that he hoped McStay would be on the sideline for the Donegal game, doesn't have far to travel he lives right behind Hyde Park.

Did I not read somewhere where Mc Guinness said all the injured were close.

I would guess they had some sort of an inhouse game over the weekend and needed the panel for that. From using the Ulster final as an example extended squad members not named in the could be playing this weekend coming. Caolan Mccolgan played with his club the weekend of the Tyrone match and the played against cavan.

They were just repeating whatbhe said a couple weeks ago. Wouldn't go by that, sure Sean Patton dis a full warm up before the Cavan game even though he wasn't able to play. Nobody will know for sure until Sunday around 3.30

Probably not till the game starts. Just hoping Patton is fit to play.

Not be easy but you expect them to win by 6? If it was an easy game you must expect them to win by 30!

Mayo will be unbelievably tough at the weekend, they know they can't lose. I could see a draw or a win for Donegal by the most narrowest of margins.
