There's the $tupid comment ,how can hurling effect football it IMPROVES hand eye cordiations ,saying one stops the other is ridiculous, Leitrim only having 2 clubs teams is a disgrace, a county that won a connacht minor hurling in the 60s

Don't be feeding the wind up merchant.
Is tough on once senior clubs going down the ranks but I don't think the days on 10-12 teams per championship did us any favours. There is 6 divisions now instead of 5 but nearly half the teams and for a good reason, lot less teams now plus lads don't want every weekend took up with football February to November

Was at the intermediate Relegation final yesterday, poor enough game for long parts but a really exciting finish as both teams went for broke. Kiltubrid will have a lot of regrets they led for majority of the game and even were 9 points up close to half time after 2 quick goals, Mick Mc Cormack at midfield and Barry McWeeney up front very prominent. Gortletteragh improved hugely in the second half, however they were very wasteful but 2 goals in a few minutes put them 2 up and they looked to be in control. However John Reynolds sending off and a third Kiltubrid goal swung the game again entering injury time. Nathan ward kicked a wonder point from play and two pressure frees and a goal with the last play sealed it. Cian McNulty, Nathan Ward, Colm Duffy were very prominent for Gortletteragh especially in the second half but it was the introduction of Jack Heslin in the second half that was crucial his hard running drew frees and set up scores and Kiltubrid couldn't cope with it. A blow for Kiltubrid going down to Junior no doubt but they should have every chance of going up next year. For Gortletteragh a positive end to a very disappointing year, their age profile especially in defence is high and unless they get more younger players coming through they will continue to struggle in the years ahead.

Replying To leitrimlad15:  "It was played in November and December for years and I didn't hear much complaints. I was fortunate to be part of it for 4 years and remember it fondly. Our club in recent years are part of an amalgamation and the manager was pressuring them not to play because it's in the middle of the year. Not fair on young lads missing the small window they have to play.

Junior Final tomorrow, harsh on both teams not to get the opportunity to play in Pairc Sean. If I remember correctly, when the county board came begging the clubs for JP's money it was to ensure more clubs get access to Pairc Sean during championship. I guess that doesn't extend to the Junior clubs.

Hard to look by Aughavas for the win tomorrow. A lot of young good footballers and promoted to division 1 for next year. Good year for them but all accounts.

Personally I'd like to see Drumreilly winning, only because and correct me of I'm wrong, Drumreilly haven't won a championship and it would be great for McKeon, Maxwell and Holohan etc with all their years of service. They were always known for their older players but they seem to have a fresh crop of youth now.

I think the batten of a team with older players has now gone to Eslin and hard to see them surviving as a club let alone Junior A in the coming years.

Big win for Gortletragh today.. Kiltubrid winning most of the game but a strong finish by Gort. Kiltubrid down a few with emigration. Hard on them too as they are showing promise in recent years. With 8 teams per grade now we will see a of unexpected teams dropping rank."
Did Drumreilly not beat Aughavas in inter final in the noughties????

Thanks for the report on the game.

The Junior Championship will be very competitive next year with the 3 relegated teams, but Kiltubrit should be very competitive with Foley back .

Drumreilly won the intermediate championship in 2007 beating Aughavas. Maxwell, McKeon Holohan etc. won a title then

Why was the Junior A final played in Ballinamore? was this a decision made and agreed upon by both clubs, seeing as Ballinamore is closer? if not, the county board are again a shambles, preventing two proud clubs who have produced some of the best footballers we have had in the county in the last 25 years, from playing the final in the county grounds. There was also no match program for the spectators at the final. Distasteful from the County board, under mining the value of the competition.

True. Poor form especially as Junior A is becoming a much higher standard competition as the smaller SFC and IFC filters down. It'll be pretty much all first teams next year (except St Mary's seconds who'll survive handy enough I'd say).

Bmore is as central as you can get for both clubs. No match programme was a bit disappointing but most of us at the game knew most of the players!!

agree totally, the county board were quick enough with the paw out looking for the JP money from every club as soon as it landed, all adult finals should be in Pairc Sean

on the program i remember they used to do player pen pics also, this was a nice touch and real memento to keep for years to come. no effort put in all nowadays. but have none for the junior final was shocking poor.

Couldn't agree more, there was a programme though, an A4 sheet of paper with the teams, scandalous effort for two first teams working so hard to push on.

As a contest, it was probably the best of the 3 adult finals, a real tough game of football. A huge crowd in Ballinamore but I fully agree that both clubs deserved a day out in HQ

Totally agree. There was a grear crowd in Ballinamore and it was an enjoyable game.

Why is it that there is a constant run of rants on this Forum , blaming everyone and anyone for all kinds of rediculous things.

I think the CB should be complimented for getting the championship restructured into competitive competitions run off very smoothly.

The CB exexutive is made up of a small number of indiviuals who devote their time to this and have done for years.Totally agree. There was a grear crowd in Ballinamore and it was an enjoyable game.

I doubt Aughavas will care that the game wasn't in Carrick tbh, the record books will show they won the title and that's all that matters. It is a great achievement for a tiny club

Yes, im not putting down the Ballinamore grounds, as it is a great facility, and perhaps the two teams were more than happy to play there, but if they were not given the option of Pairc Sean, then it is a shambolic move by the county board, showing their true colors, not having any regard for the Junior competition. The venues for the semifinals was a complete joke. Regarding the program, it would have been nice for a bit more than an A4 sheet of paper. this would have been the first adult final for a lot of these players on both teams and for some older lads, their last.

What would they put in a programme please? Not much to say except give the teams thanks! It's only junior anyway. Very very irrelevant please.

Great county Junior Final but the criticism of not been played in Pairc Sean and the "programme" is very much warranted. Should have been a proper one that each team and supporter could take home as a keep sake.

As a wise man once said, "If there is no criticism, you become lazy. But it should be constructive, and it should be the truth... If it's true, it helps me grow.
