A junior team couldn't have done much worse yesterday. The tactics were a joke yesterday. Just brought everything one back to defend, had one of the best players in connacht was more or less anonymous. They could have easily let in a few high balls into him. As others have said the quicker theses new rules are brought in the better.

All the new rules are going to do is that teams will have 12 instead of 15 back it will be games with a lot more wides as players take on low % pop shots in an effort to score two points.

You seem to be going back on your original post now. You claimed that Ballinamore or Marys would have done better. I'm curious as to why you think that or did you just make a point with no evidence to support it. Now you are suddenly claiming that they just had a bad game which I agree with but who knows the same wouldnt have happened to the other teams.
If you make a point and it is wrong that is fine, just accept it. We are all human.

Any word from the county senior team. Have they been doing anything yet and how is Poacher being received? Mohills display last weekend was very disappointing but shows where the county is at. Hopefully the reduction in numbers in the various championships will make them more competitive and raise the standards

There's 40/50 lads in doing S&C and Running sessions. This obviously doesn't include any Mohill or injured players.

Although we all know that a lot of these players are nowhere near senior inter County standard it can only help Leitrim club football for 2025 if players on the fringes are getting top quality S&C and conditioning sessions in over the winter period.

On the debate about the standard of club football in Leitrim - There's no point in discussing it without accepting the impact emigration is having. Club panels have been ravaged. That's already on top of having the lowest population (second lowest Gaa population after Fermanagh) in the country. So the reality is that we should be weak.

But also, we don't produce our own coaches in Leitrim - therefore each club are paying out thousands on management which could be spent on better Pitches, Gyms and Facilities or even Games Development Officers.

We are also way behind on S&C compared to most counties in Division 3 or 4 and not in the same sphere as those in the top 2 divisions. This alone leaves us at a huge disadvantage when it comes to facing teams in the Club Provincials. We don't have near the same running power or strength.
If you consider some of the Gym facilities our Senior Clubs have available to them its easy to see why we're behind. Clubs/County board are going to really have to tackle this issue alone if we are to improve. Could some clubs double up and use funds to build communal gym facilities or something?

The numbers reduction will definitely up the intermediate and junior championship standards because more teams are coming down from the higher divisions. Won't do as much for the SFC as there's no one coming down to it. Be a few less mismatches though.

What do people think of the new Jersey? Wouldn't be impressed... obviously got a better deal but it looks a fairly light jersey and certainly not as good looking as an O'Neills or McKeever one IMO

I think the fact that our sponsor is all white now does make it look better than last year. Last year the orange and white sponsor on a yellow strip didn't look well in my opinion. The gaelic armour jerseys are light and probably aren't as high quality material as McK or O'Neill's .

I thought the McKeever jerseys served us well. Some of the training/away jerseys were gorgeous. These new jerseys will be even cheaper than McKeever so thats good. Hopefully the sales go well and the county board will have more money to spend on the management team.

I can't understand why they can't go with O'Neills, its pure quality, i know the financial aspect but jeez, its well worth it. the neck on the new one looks a bit odd.

I agree, cheap option taken by the county board, surprise surprise.

Wil be no games won in the gyms. Ya can put every player in leitrim in the gym put that won't make them footballer's. Coaching Coaching Coaching. They need to know how to play football and how to play as a team and have them fit enough to do that. Every year people on here saying how our county team not fit enough and not able to keep with other teams for 70min. That will only be improved out on a pitch not in a gym

Pardon my ignorance but what is the financial aspect of not going with O'Neills?

Don't understand why the gold hoop doesn't go the whole way around the jersey, at least the crest isn't tiny anymore. That collar does look a bit odd as someone said.

O'Neills are a bit more expensive.

In fairness though anyone who really wants Leitrim gear it won't matter how much it costs to them

no i mean for Leitrim GAA to get O'Neills gear it will cost them more, hence the cheaper option. supporters will buy it whoever makes it, and whatever cost, especially with Christmas round the corner. its a cost issue for Leitrim GAA.

Not impressed. Should never have left O'Neills. Players put in huge sacrifices and they are given some brand most people have never heard off. It looks cheap. The neckline is terrible looking. Penny pinching imo.
