Keith back in the panel, new goalkeeper in Daire o Shea from Monaghan. Lost to Wicklow last night. That's losses in all preseason games. Not sure how the morale is high in the camp, terrible run into the National League. Let's hope it all comes together for the Laois game and we get a good start to the league.

Took a hammering last night. That's 3 defeats to all division 4 teams. Haven't a hope against Laois let's be realistic about it. Be lucky to pick up any points in the national league.

Wouldn't get too alarmed at challenge defeats, if Laois beat us by the same amount as the div 4 final then the alarm can begin

Panel named on Facebook page. Looks for the main part very inexperienced and looks like Ryan O'Rourke is not available for the year either. What a pity after trying to escape Division 4 for years we're not giving ourselves a chance in a strong Division 3. Fair play and the very best of luck to everyone that has committed to the cause but I fear we're in for a very tough campaign, would be delighted to be proven wrong.

Unfortunately it's very grim before a ball has even been kicked. Going to be destroyed in the middle and teams will run through this Leitrim team with ease. Good luck to the players who have committed.

It will be interesting to see if the new rules will result in much bigger winning margins where Div 1 teams meet division 3 and 4 teams and possibly division 2 teams also in the championship. The 3 men up rule will likely result in forwards finding themselves 1 on 1 situations more often and could really make hay now that 13 behind the ball is gone. Last year Galway had scored 5 goals before London had scored 5 points. We could see a lot more of that.

I'm assuming Donal Casey & Tom Prior will both start if fit! I also think the new keeper is Dara O'Shea a recruit from Monaghan! Mark keegan could also start in the half back line, I guess we will have to wait and see!

Definitely Tom Prior starts probably for his clubman Honeyman who would be a a good option off the bench , forgot to include Tom . Donal Casey I believe is out injured that's why I haven't included him. A real shame Ryan O'Rourke isn't involved these new rules would have brought the best out of him.

Think your wrong re challenge game results. Drew with Wexford & London don't know what team faced Wicklow but a lot of new faces in squad so wouldn't place much emphasis on these pre season games. Morale is high in the camp no matter what you think.

I totally agree, Ryan is a huge loss, but even having Ryan, Darragh Rooney, & Pearce Dolan involved it would be a difficult task to stay up in Division 3. I think the Harken twins are a huge addition to the squad and should get game time, but overall it could be a difficult year, in saying that really looking forward to supporting my county through the League and very thankful that this group of young players have decided to commit.
All roads lead to Ballinamore on Saturday!
The very best of luck to the management & players, Leitrim Abu!

Who would Tom Prior start ahead of? The full forward line named is pretty strong

Even though I and others had warned everyone of what was a head this year on these pages in the last few months I think it really only hit home to everyone (myself included) when we seen the official squad announced. Its stark.
I've said before that you could have Mick O'Dwyer or Jim Gavin in charge and it wouldn't make a difference this year.
Fair play to the players that have committed to the cause but the reality is many of these would be Third, Fourth, or Fifth choice in their positions if we had everyone available. Theres probably 25 to 30 players not available in total.

We have not just lost the majority of our 'high-end' players talent wise but we have lost years of S&C which will be exposed brutally at division Four level. That the unfortunate reality of things.

The panel announced once again shows to me that we have no issue in producing quality players but we have a severe issue with retaining them. There's no magic solution to this but the County Board needs to put in place a plan to change this.
When you look at who's missing (from last years panel) only Pearce Dolan and Mark Plunkett have left the country. The rest are still on the island or are nursing injuries. That is the really disappointing thing. When you add in the others who haven't been involved due to emigration it really is depressing for what could have been.

Another positive I have taken away from the squad is that its a complete change from Des Dolans time where we produced so many top quality defenders and had no real high level forwards. Now we are really struggling defensively.

Even with the likes of O'Rourke, Rooney, Plunkett missing from our forward line we still have Beirne, Prior, Cox, Reynolds, Guckian, Riordan O'Rourke and Honeyman available in our forward unit. Past managers would have bitten your hand off for this scoring power. With the new rules I would say if we can secure any decent type of possession or on counter attacks we could do real damage.

Poacher falling out with Killian Gaffey really hasn't helped and taking in the keeper from the club he coaches in Louth but who is from Monaghan is an 'interesting' approach.

For what its worse here's my guess at what the team may be (is Cillian McGloin fit again? Is Keith Beirne fit after missing preseason?)

How did Poacher fall out with Gaffey? From what I've heard there was an issue about discipline. Gaffey and another player were then dropped. Poacher then gave them a route to get back onto the panel. Gaffey didn't take up this choice. The other player did and is now back on the panel.

Can't see how Poacher is to blame.
