very good result vs last year's AI finalists, shows last week was not some sort of once off against an average team. We clearly have good young lads coming through, just a matter of keeping them involved and competing at a good level to make ti worth their while. Their goal now has to be getting to and winning the Connacht final, the B competition is a nice touch but they are clearly good enough to mix it with the best

I'd be inclined to agree we had to work hard to get to get frees in the second half and he was a stickler on the 4 steps rule. To be far he was harsh on both teams calling for overcarrying. I thought the penalty was fairly soft and looked to be outside the square.

When a penalty is awarded and the team that conceded the penalty don't protest then you know the ref got it correct. There wasn't a whimper out of Leitrim when the ref gave the penalty. We were awarded a point midway through the second half and it was clearly wide from my position but that particular umpire was extremely poor. He signalled a wide ball in the first half when it was clearly a 45 for Leitrim. The referee over ruled him so justice was done and Leitrim got the 45

There was no protest because young lads in Leitrim are taught to have respect for referee's and wouldn't question their decisions. I thought it was soft. If there was no penalty given I don't think you would be protesting either.

I also thought that point looked wide even with the stream being at the other angle. So your saying we were ROBBED!!

Just looked back at the video of the penalty. There definitely was a protest from our players. I think there would've been a even greater protest only all our lads looked out on their feet at the time.

Disagree.. I stopped protesting to referee's about decisions even if I felt hard done by.. mainly because I thought it would help to keep ref's onside etc. Started it again because I heard a referee turn to one of our other players and say 'he's been penalised and he's not protesting'. Perfect world is a rugby scenario but unfortunately in the GAA, you have to protest.

Also, would agree with Leitrimforliam, the players were definitely out on their feet, you could see with their hands on their heads.

The under 20s are certainly a team we can be proud of and are equals of any county in Connacht. Good luck against Roscommon next Wednesday they are clearly capable of beating the old enemy.

Those of you in the know- what are the minor team like this year? How are our chances? Will this team feature many that made the Fr Manning cup final last year?

Fixed for Ballinamore but the hurling was moved to Carrick yesterday.

How is Ballinamores pitch holding up with all the bad weather recently. There was a few club games off at the weekend

Eslin cant cope with the crowds for a junior championship game never mind an intercounty one. I believe spectators were parked as far as half a mile up the road for a game i played there last year.
I think the pitch itself is of decent quality at least.

For a game of this import such as Wednesday one is going to be walking quite a distance no matter where it is thank you.

Our ground is quite capable of hosting such a game. However it could be just rumours I am hearing.

Big few days ahead now for Leitrim. We would really be starting to make inroads if the 20s can be get across the line tomorrow evening and then have our minor team really competitive against Sligo on Friday. As I get older I know less and less players but I will still get out and support them on both days. Wednesday is huge for this group and hopefully home advantage is worth the point or 2 that might make the difference

A word on qualification permutations ahead of the U-20 game tomorrow: we will 100% qualify for the semifinals if we beat Roscommon tomorrow (in 2nd place if Mayo don't win and probably in 3rd place otherwise), and we will 100% not qualify if we draw (4th) or lose (4th or 5th). (We'll top the group if we beat the Rossies by at least 13 points and Mayo win by 4 points less than we do, or something. But it'll be closer than that.)
