Andy Moran's comments after the match yesterday was a bit bizarre. Gaa_lover (USA) - Posts: 3496 - 26/02/2024 19:52:55 2528474 Link 2 |
In good news the u20's had a comprehensive win against the Carlow u20's on Sunday. They were up by 10-12 points before we made a raft of changes and Carlow came back into it. Seem's to be the theme of our games to date. Leitrimforliam (Leitrim) - Posts: 326 - 27/02/2024 08:55:19 2528540 Link 1 |
To be fair to Head Coach Andy he was probably trying to put a gloss on it.

Huge game Sunday. I'd love to know if Keith Berine is part of the panel. My gut says no and maybe it's a case he doesn't want to commit to it this year and that's actually the reason. If it's the opposite and he is willing to play then lugdrum (Leitrim) - Posts: 357 - 27/02/2024 15:34:48 2528662 Link 1 |
for now move on

Heard this morning the CB asked the ladies clubs to pay towards the new pitch aswell. If this true they have no shame at all. When was the last time the ladies were even allowed play a game in Carrick Thejampot (Leitrim) - Posts: 344 - 28/02/2024 13:09:26 2528796 Link 2 |
Well whatever about the shame or lack there of, can anyone tell me why a small loan can't be raised to cover the shortfall? A club looking to borrow similar funds (75k) only needs county board approval so I would have thought Connacht Council approval would be more than sufficent if it's needed at all??? I asked Joe to clarify why money couldn't be borrowed but he seems to have disappeared off the face of the planet.... apparently completely ruled out according to him.

We had to endure it for years regardless of the opposition… In my view it's a nonsense tactic and only invites lesser opponents than yourself onto you and keeps them in the game… How any coach thinks giving the opposition the ball freely is a good tactic is baffling..?

The Leitrim Ladies have played in Pairc Sean & I understand they are willing to consider the CB suggestion. If they contribute surely it strengthens their case .They are a great squad and I wish them well in their promotion push.

When was the last time Leitrim ladies played in Pairc Sean? None of the Junior, Intermediate, Senior B or Senior A finals were held in Pairc Sean last year. What case are they strengthening as you say by paying off the county boards debt? You sound like you are on the county board, I really hope not because it would be a sad indictment of Leitrim GAA if someone like you held authority on the CB. I hope that you are just posing as a CB member on here to get a rise out of everyone. Leitrimforliam (Leitrim) - Posts: 326 - 29/02/2024 08:41:07 2528883 Link 0 |
Looks like the CB got the handy way out of raising the money. It's wrong that the likes of St Mary's who got over €90k of the JP McManus money only had to pay the same as the like of Glenfaren or Eslin who received €23k. It's like running the country currently the rich get richer. lugdrum (Leitrim) - Posts: 357 - 29/02/2024 09:24:00 2528887 Link 0 |
I never said the ladies hadn't played in Carrick. I said when was the last time they were allowed to play in Carrick? Maybe you can answer that please

What clubs paid it? I wasn't aware my own club did

It was my understanding the county board were looking for contributions from the clubs by the number of grants they received per code, i.e Marys donate 3 times more then Eslin or Glenfarne.

No each of the 23 clubs was asked to donated a little less that €4k each to make up the €80k shortfall. So St Mary's paid the the same as Glenfaren but St Mary's got over €60k more out of the pot. It was agreed at the last county board meeting. lugdrum (Leitrim) - Posts: 357 - 29/02/2024 12:34:23 2528928 Link 0 |
