Its because Mayo lost once in Connaught and once in the AI series. Roscommon lost twice in the AI series.

Funny how you picked Mayo out in your incorrect rant. A few teams have lost twice.

Think a realistic look has to be taken at the season,. Winning the Connaught is great and was a fantastic day, but I can't get my head around people seeing that alone as a successful season. We were shockingly bad against Mayo in the 1st half and Mayo should have been out of sight, only they were asleep for the 2nd half and 3 or 4 of Roscommon's reliables stood up, we would have lost that game. Let's stop the excuses on here. Every year it's the same old story. We get battered at these stages of the championship while the likes of Monaghan and Louth progress. We celebrated the Connaught title as if we'd won the All Ireland. This is a team capable of getting to an All Ireland semi final and it's frustrating to see us out again. I do believe that provincial champions should get an automatic quarter final berth, but we had a good draw, home to Tyrone and away to Monaghan, those are both winnable fixtures and to lose both comes down to the mentality of the players and managers. Such a shame for this crop of players. I still believe Mark Dowd wasn't the right call as manager appointment and that this group deserves a big name, proven winner as manager in order to squeeze the potential out of them, some one from outside the county with a proven track record of winning. Not sure who that is but I'd love to see our county aim high. Interesting times ahead I believe. Headhunter85 (Roscommon) - Posts: 35 - 15/06/2026 09:30:59 2679731 Link 0 |

A good year for Roscomnon overall. Punching above their weight putting it up to the big two in Connacht, great credit must be given for that anyway. No shame in being hammered by an average Monaghan side. ohwow (Leitrim) - Posts: 220 - 15/06/2026 09:48:05 2679740 Link 0 |

Not sour, we got exactly what our performances deserved in the last 2 games. Galway could go on and win the All Ireland now, Kerry or Armagh gone after this weekend, Donegal should beat the Dubs but are so unpredictable. Those 3 and Galway are the top 4 in the country so it's opening up for the Tribesmen and good luck to them, I certainly wouldn't mind seeing them get over the line.

Grapes are not sour at all it's the reality Of this years championship structure I'm sure there will be tweaks for next year 2 if not 3 of the provincial champions will be out before qtr final stage Roscommon weren't good enough When needed that's the reality but still a lot Of Positives for us And I would genuinely Love To see see Galway win an all Ireland but ye might be lamenting the soft path to a qtr final in a couple Of weeks if ye get A tough draw And are totally Undercooked but good luck to ye rossy15 (Roscommon) - Posts: 689 - 15/06/2026 10:21:06 2679763 Link 0 |

Looking at the draw this morning doesn't make our exit feel any better. Monaghan who performed and we didn't are rewarded with a home game against Westmeath to reach the All-Ireland final. If they win they won't fear any of Louth,Cork,Tyrone or Galway. The_analyser (Roscommon) - Posts: 4405 - 15/06/2026 10:37:36 2679775 Link 0 |

Hard luck lads. I still feel Rossies are a top 5 side in country but Tyrone kinda ambushed ye with the long gap whereas you had to come down from a brilliant Nestor Cup. Saturday was just one of those days that can happen any time in the new rules. shaggykev (Donegal) - Posts: 488 - 15/06/2026 11:07:14 2679787 Link 1 |

The manner of the exit is so hard to understand or live with. It eclipses all the good stuff earlier, like comfortably staying in D1, winning the 3 Connacht titles, winning 2 of the 3 Connacht Club titles... And to make it worse the most open AI race in donkeys years. Seanfan (Roscommon) - Posts: 648 - 15/06/2026 11:21:24 2679794 Link 0 |

It was more old rules, slow, non tackling, scoring 0-14...

Different scene, same old drama. Going out to the likes of Monaghan, Cork, Kildare, Clare recent years. We're the soft touch everyone wants. Interesting to see if this panel will see changes.
