Scoreable frees kicked short or wide was costly also. Credit to Brigids for winning a county title but they'll know their performances in both final especially defensive won't be good enough to win Connacht if repeated. Like against Pearses both days Brigids should get nothing easy against Ballina. Having seen all contenders in action Moycullen look best place to regain the Connacht IMO. My senior club team of the year Conor Carroll (Brigids) a bit of transfer business that took two years to complete and worth the wait as he played a huge role in Brigids regaining the title with two good final appearances. David Murray (Pearses) a model consistent performer, his clubs best defender and offers leadership to keep them going in sticky patches which was plenty during this championship Brian Stack (Brigids) great drive and leadership a true captains role for his team. Mark Richardson (Pearses) solid campaign where he marked top fowards out of the game worth a recall to the senior county panel Paddy Gavin (Clann) good marker with bag of pace will hopefully see more game time under Mark Dowd Ruaidhri Fallon (Brigids) very good around the middle eight for winning possession cleanly or via breaking ball, good link man out of defence Robbie Dolan (Brigids) really came to the fore in the two finals, not the tallest but a warrior. Shane Cunnane (Brigids) such and clam and composed footballer, his quality of kick passing is as good as any player in the county Conor Ryan (Pearses) his clubs most consistent player this year. Certainly put his hand up to be included on the senior county panel next year Declan Kenny (Pearses) not as good today as previous games but another solid club championship from him and certainly puts his hands up for more county game time. Dylan Ruane (Michael Glaveys) his club will be disappointed not to reach back to back semi-finals but no fault of his. Great work rate and team play by the county man Paul McGrath (Brigids) unsung hero in his side, who regularly produces big plays both defensively and offensively for his team. Diarmuid Murtagh (Faithleachs) his club reached back to back semi-finals in no small part to Diarmuids form and scored 2-31 Paul Carey (Pearses) well marked in the finals but Pearses wouldn't have reached the final but for his high scoring against Boyle,Oran. Finished up with overall score of 1-34 Ciaran Lennon (Clann) championship top scorer with 3-31. Worth trying as a target man under Mark Dowd to see can he bring his club scoring to county level. Well done to st Brigid's. Pearces left a few goal chances behind yesterday. Brigid's aren't as good as I thought they were. They were very open in defense and thought Senann Kilbride struggled yesterday. Maybe he's an option off the bench rather than starting. Ballina will be a massive test for them in a couple of weeks. Was it dolan that went off injured yesterday?" I think they used Senan very smart.The commentary lads spotted it. Keogh had to mark him and wasn't able to drive up to pitch. Also Ben Nugent Hand and Sugrue Derwin all played more as a unit with Senan's presence around them and he got a point and his height for balls dropping in the square. Overall I think was a roll of the dice but I think they used him to bring calm to the others more than what he could do I dunno if was spotted but they also targeted Hubert Darcy. Isolated him 1v1 scores and kickouts. You could see they knew pearses would give up a few like Ultan and the lads predicted and they had a plan and got out through pearses at ease. Overall Brigids were in control most of the game and still probably have got near what they can be but don't underestimate the scar tissue from the 1/4 final last year. Kudos to the lads on clubber the tactical insights they gave really was spot on great idea to have them in. They also have huge money behind them. They have brought in an top Goal keeper. Don't agree with it buttes an all Ireland due to a weakness between the sticks. Carrol seems to be the missing link. They have county players in every line with some lines complete. Their benchnisnstacked with experience and they also have all Ireland club medals in their panel from the ballymun win. There is leadership everywhere. They are also not reliant on one man. Stack is very important but not life threatening. Moycullen lose Sean Kelly who is injury prone and they are gone. Same as ballina with Evan regan who put on a masterclass tomwin the final. Brigids also beat pearses by not playing to their potential. Interesting comments from Brian Stack after the game to say Brigids threw the shackles off more yesterday than they did in the replay but it meant it left them more opened defensively and that's something they'll have to adjust before likely facing Ballina in two weeks. Their shooting efficiency was an impressive 70% and the inclusion of Senan did allow Nugent,Derwin,O'Carroll more room to cause damage as that trio scored 1-11 between them. Pearses today will look back on a shooting efficiency of 50% with much regret and how after 15 minutes they led 1-4 to 0-3 and that could have been 3-3 to 0-3 but for two outstanding saves by Conor Carroll. In the next ten minutes Brigids scored 7 points without reply to lead 0-10 to 1-4 and that was basically the winning and losing of the final yesterday. A good chance of winning Connacht but there'll be no walking it. Ballina third year in a row into the provincial championship, they will be no walkover and will definitley be targetting a Connacht final. Best of luck to all our reps in Connacht starting with Croans agaisnt Coonacool in Hyde Park this Sunday Strokestown up against a high scoring Allen Gaels who have Kieran Kilcline in their ranks and Brigids likely up against Ballina the following week. Has anyone seen the provisional fixture listing for the league? I know we kick off the league campaign with a trip to Killarney but other than that I've seen nothing. Would be very interested to see what home games we have and also what kind of a road trip to look forward to for 2026. I see Cavan and Kildare have provisional fixture lists out also. Division two looks very tough next year" The proposed schedule for Dublins league games are discussed in today's Irish Times. All their home league matches will be double headers with Meath who will play there division 2 home matches also in Croke Park. Dublins home games: Donegal, Monaghan, Armagh. The assumption can therefore be made that Roscommon will play Dublin in the Hyde. Dublin will also be away to Mayo and Galway. (Not sure about Dublin v Kerry) Hopefully we will get the full schedule for all the Roscommon games very shortly. PS: I was at the division 1 & 2 league finals in Croke Park on 30th March. Can't understand why it takes over 7 months to agree fixtures when the teams for all four divisions are known since last March. For example the match schedule for the 2027 men's rugby world cup in Australia will be announced in February 2026 and tickets available shortly after. 18 MONTHS before the event.
