Was in the stadium Saturday. Oughterard looked finished going in at half time on level pegging with Claregalway after playing so poorly and facing a galeforce wind in the second half.

But they emerged a different team. Some astute changes and superior fitness got them over the line.

Saw the second half of the, MB v Caltra. Can't see Caltra winning intermediate on this performance. MB beat themselves imo. They had a galeforce wind in the second half, and were only 3 pts a drift at the break and looked like a team in the driving seat. But they didn't seem to have a game plan and looked totally puffed and stuck to the ground, just simply not fit enough. Surely at this stage of the competition fitness would not be an issue with all the money teams spend on preparation.

Caltra are most certainly not the same force as last year after losing 2 or 3 dual players and I can't see thembeen in the mix for silverware.

Whoever wins between Caltra and Aran will be hard stopped. The islanders seem to be back playing well this year. Topped a group with Caherlistrane (just down from senior) and Corofin B (who just hammered Glenamaddy). They probably got the toughest draw though from the preliminary round in Caltra.

St Brendan's v Caherlistrane another interesting one. Hard to look beyond those four.

Dunmore are nice to watch at times but would want to seriously shore things up at the back or Corofin could get 5 or 6 goals on them. The ease with which Leitir Mór opened them for 4 goals is a serious wake up call for them. For one thing, C Gleeson, with all his top level IC experience, can surely be better at getting what's in front of him a bit more organised.

Hard to see any of the preliminary winners beating the group winners. Annaghdown happy to get year over and done with how did Damo play? Wrap him in more cotton wool til April. Barna & Michaels a coin toss. Barna a team who have offerred noting in senior and might be no harm to go down and have a crack at winning a trophy or going on a run but think they will have enough for Michael's shows the gap between senior & inter with Michael's going straight down. Intermediate wide open and could make a case for any amount of teams but feel it will be Brendan's Caltra & Spiddal. Will Brendan's being in hurling be a hindrance? Have no idea what cross over there is if any to be honest.

They conceded 1 goal in group stages so Sunday seems to have been an outlier

I was gutted and the felt for the lads who battled with a very young team. I think the future is very bright for Claregalway. Just need to hold onto lads. I think we will have Frank Fox in 3-4 years.
I also went to Tuam on Saturday to see Annaghdown v St Michaels expecting to see Annaghdown get relegated and to be honest they deserve some credit. Hobbling through the year with injuries, they pulled off a shock.(Well I thought Michaels would win). Their second half was totally different that the first and they seem to change tactics Kilcommins sat back in centre back and quieten Higgins (who I thought had a great first half) Comer although injured was brilliant, Frankie Burke rolled back the years. On a sour note I thought referee gave Micheals some awful soft frees. Not as bad as our match but not great either.
We have some really good referees out there but the two I saw at the weekend were not two of them. Football referees have everything they want now, no talk back, no abuse, respect from players but this must be 2 ways. The referees need to be up to speed with the rules and also respect the players and be fair."
These games overlapped Saturday how did you attend both
