Good luck to Jim, I really do admire the man for everything he's done for the GAA, but please stop the calling for cards from the sideline (he did it for the ridiculous red and Flaherty's harsh black yesterday) the moan and the poor mouth when things just don't work out to those purported mastermind plans of his, it's letting down your county. And we're well aware it's the league, and there are bigger things down the tracks, hence letting Comer and McDaid and Conroy and Daly have a break when it's needed. You're not the only ones with some firepower still in the gun safe!! We may meet again, and it'll be lively!" You wouldnt want to listen to their GAA podcast, one of their pundits has said landing the all Ireland this year is "inevitable" :D !

Replying To Kickitout: "So if everyone took ur approach there would be zero at any league match or prob first round of championship as its not knockout an interesting way of supporting ur county but like everyone on here ur entitled to ur opinion hopefully Galway get to semi final this year and u will get to support them ,,, they be the team wearing Maroon jerseys ,," But be careful if they're playing Westmeath. Galway might no be in maroon jerseys then!

Is it possible to sell pearse stadium and use the proceeds to invest in Athenry and Tuam.
It's just a god awful place to play a game, even in the summer the wind blows something.. it ruined Galway v Mayo champo game 2023 in the height of summer.
Athenry is just out the road and easily accessible.

In some ways it's amazing really - do you know how many counties would kill for a pitch that opponents hated playing in, and it's a 5 min walk from the beach? On sunny days it's class really, tip around salthill all day on match day. It needs a bit of work on the stand & the pitch can be bare at times but it always drains well which is not something that can be said for Tuam! Tuam is a money black hole. Heard a story the last day about showing a lad the old dressing rooms in Tuam that the refs currently use - yer man said he thought the new ones under the stand WERE the old ones! I've never been at a big game in athenry but I'd imagine the parking situation there is even less ideal than salthill.
It is a pain to get out of after the match but that's a Galway problem in general - Tuam on county final day is just as bad

Even from north Galway you are quicker getting to every other provincial ground then getting to Salthill.
You could probably get from tuam to castle bar/roscommon and back before getting to salthill
Facilities arnt even great either nobody wants it hurling football teams all equally hate it

Galway tried their hardest to kick into the breeze in the second half and couldn't score into it. If I remember they had a fair few drop short and they got close in too.
But you enjoyed your 99s and got some sun on the bones!!

You won't get planning permission to knock down the old town wall of Athenry in order to expand the stadium.
Why would you deprive Galway City and the West of their stadium?
Fundamentally, would you rather have money spent on developing our players so that we can compete at the highest level, or would you prefer that money be invested in a stadium? It's hard to do both.

In the context of that game, salthill was not what ruined us - comer had to go off at half time & Shane only scored from frees. Rob finnerty only played 20 mins in 2nd half. Sean Kelly clearly played on one leg that whole year. We were ruined in 23 by losing to Armagh in the last game of the group stages really, and just so happened to draw the best team out of the 4 third places. Having to go play arch rivals a week after a bad result like that was never going to go particularly well.

With the odd exception I never have much bother getting to Salthill (Mayo or Rossie big games only).
City centre stadium is brilliant for evening games. You will get a walk up crowd you would not normally get.
Saying that, I love the atmosphere around Tuam on a big game day.
Council need to sort out the bus lanes and have proper services, park and ride etc for the big games.
I heard P Bellew talking about discussions with Irish Rail for next years night games. Excellent initiative.

There are a number of different approach roads plus easy access to the motorway from both. For supporters east of the Corrib, there's little choice but to go through the confines of the city using one of the 4 bridges to get to Salthill.

Have not seen him on a 26 this year, is he injured, taking time out or just not used?

I don't believe we had a great record in Tuam against ye over the years? Much prefer going there for ease of access and Tuam is a real football town in fairness for atmosphere and pubs around town. Salthill apparently has the lowest conversion rates of frees of any county ground according to Newstalk during the week.

Galway football is stronger in West Galway now. Pearse Stadium, despite its restrictions, is here to stay. North Galway...... deal with it!
