We've gotten pretty good at beating wexford the last 20 years as well ;)

Last 5 years you have won 3, drawn 1 and lost one.
In the Round Robin overall its you have won 4, drawn 2 lost 1.
So you have been better than us in recent years. But in the last 5 years, probably the most relevant stat, Dublin have won 4 and drawn once against us.
So they have the better record than you do.
And if you want to go head to head, its won 2, drawn 1 and lost 2. So exactly even.

Accentuate the positive! Galway were the last team from the Leinster championship to win an All Ireland and came within a whisker of a draw with Limerick the following year. :)

I know, they're not always right a lot of the time and some outlets have their bias, however listening to the GAA on the build-up to Saturday evening it's almost as if they've written us off.

Yes Dublin are in good form and always have the players to trouble us and of course have already beaten us this season along with the fact of their Kilkenny game this season and the game last year against Limerick being massive results.

However they seem to think that over the past 2 or 3 weeks that Galway could only have stayed the same or gotten worse.

I don't see it myself and probably shouldn't pay too much attention, but are we ever going to be taken serious as a contender?

Shouldve won in 2018. Be nice to see yourselves or one of the 2 Leinster counties win it now, but its a huge ask.....

That's probably good listening for the Galway hurling fanbase, who tend to bring an overconfident air into most clashes with Dublin, since we entered Leinster in 2009. They've beaten us more than we've beaten them 2009-2026, so we've nothing to be overconfident about really. We also were emphatically beaten in the only Leinster Final to date between the sides, in 2013.

I said last 20 years for a reason, I had a feeling one of our resident wexfordians would come back with somethign like this. :D By my calculations the last 20 years its won 10, drawn 2, lost 1. That counts as pretty good at beating Wexford. I never mentioned dublin

I think we were taken serious as a contender when we deserved to be. We haven't done anything yet with this team to be called an All ireladn contender.

Most of what I've heard this week has been fair to be honest. Dublin are more consistent and have more of a track record given this is such a young galway team.

I do, however, expect the narrative to be different next week ;)

Exactly. We'll be considered contenders when we do something to warrant it. A start would be winning the Leinster title on Saturday. Need a massive improvement to do so.

Better than Galway at it. Not too bad at beating you either? Its exactly even in your last 5 games.

I know you cherry picked the year! Its not as if I dont do that myself sometimes ;-)
Seriously though you beating us 15 or 10 years ago has absolutely no bearing on whether you will win the Leinster Final or not. Joe Canning and Damien Hayes won't be playing in it.
The stats I gave you cover most of the current Dublin and Galway players.

Thats including League? :-D
Championship all time we have played 18 times.
You have 8 wins to our 7 with 3 draws.
But thats including Meelicks win over Castlebridge in the 1st ever GAA organised intercounty hurling game. When clubs represented their counties.
If you are only talking about championship games between county teams we are exactly even over all time.

Actually if you are including League we have beaten you more than once in the last 20 years. We have beaten you twice in the last 5 years.
