With the Championship now wrapped up and Loughrea deserving winners, Attention will not start turning to next year's inter-county panel. I'm curious to hear who has impressed people most this season.
From what I've seen, there are several players who could (or should) be given a shot with the county setup. A few have been involved before but didn't get much game time, so it would be great to see them given more of an opportunity.

Loughrea: Kieran Hanrahan, Cullen Killeen, Darren Shaughnessy, Anthony Burns, Shane Morgan (in with the panel last year but didn't get much time)
St. Thomas': Manso
Turloughmore: Cillian Trayers, Barry Callanan, Cillian Whelan
Craughwell: Ciaran Leen
Oranmore-Maree: Rory Burke (should be given more game time this year)
Tommie Larkins: Ronan Murphy (in before but one of the standouts this year), Cian Duggan
Athenry: Jason Rabbitte
Clarinbridge: Aaron Niland
Castlegar / Mellows: Ed O'Reilly
Kilnadeema-Leitrim: Comer, Colm Molloy (started a few games last year)
Ballinderreen: Evan Morgan, Luke Prendergast
Padraig Pearses: Jonah Donnellan
Kinvara: O'Connor
Gort: Ben O'Donovan

It has to be hoped that the Galway Senior Hurling Mgt will eat some humble pie regarding Kieran Hanrahan .

Without doubt the outstanding corner back in County Galway for the last few years.

Is he still u20 next year? Haven't seen his name against a panel in last few years. Definitely not on a starting team anyway. Great player

I would add gearoid loughnane to that list, top goalie especially in the square. Tiernan will be there also

Hanzy or Kieran hanrahan is the no.1 corner back in Galway. Ahead of the current Galway corner backs.

O Connor was destroyed today by Niall Fleming who should be brought in. Comes from good stock

Ciaran Leen is still playing post primary schools hurling this coming year I think so might be a bit early for him. There's enough young forwards anyway with Rory Burke, Niland and Rabbitte to come in. Daniel Comar from Kilnadeema is an interesting shout. Saw him with the college last year and he is very raw but definitely something to work with there. He must be 6ft6.

Congratulations

Deserved win as you were better on the day, we never got going and in all honesty you should have won more comfortably really. Game played in a good spirit and your supporters were very gracious, it's nice to see supporters put it all into backing their team instead of jeering the opposition or abusing the referee (who was very good).

Not sure you'll go much further than today mind you but ye won't care too much about that today I'm sure.

On a side note, and while in no way trying to take from their win, which as I said was deserved, does the fact that Kinvara's S/F was streamed while Meelick/Eyrecourt's wasn't give an advantage to one side in analysis terms?

It may not have. It may have made no difference. But equally, it's not as if M/E wouldn't have been able to use the stream to set up for tagging purposes etc. and why wouldn't they?

No criticism of them. But it's an odd thing all the same. Why stream one and not the other?
Surely going forward play the semis as a D/H and stream them both?

We could do with giving a greater chance to lads who were there this year for a start anyway. We can't forget that the likes of Burns and Fleming didn't start v Tipp when it mattered this year

Burns did well on Saturday night, mostly when others had done the hard work and fed him the ball. I have yet to be convinced that he is more than a top qualty club player and has the ability to take the step up to making a big impression as an intercounty forward.

True.

But you could say that about a lot of other players being mentioned here and the alternative is to wheel out all the same players as last year and with all due respect to the men involved who owe us nothing, that just won't do at all.

Also, at IC level plenty of players 'do well when others do the hard work and feed him the ball'. It's not like we are packed with elite finishers. You can never have too many.

I wouldn't see this as a negative unless he is actually expected to carry the piano as well as play it. Only the truly elite can do both at once at IC level.

Do you think M/E wouldn't have went to the semi and Observed otherwise? I know you're not, but imagine teams started blaming loses on opposition watching videos of them playing

Kilbeacanty Kiltormer and Ballinasloe are going to be Premier Junior for a very long time.
Next year Abbeyknockmoy will absolutely walk that Premier Junior and if a struggling traditional Club gets relegated from Intermediate.....they will win Premier Junior the following year.

Things change over time. Nothing is set in stone.
Ballinasloe were a match for any team in Junior A this year. The eventual winners St. Thomas's only went through on penalties against An Spidéal, who were missing a number of players on the day. Skehana-M/M were competitive in Intermediate and are improving underage.
We'll have good competitive championships in Intermediate and Junior next year and we'll see how teams evolve over time.

This comment is totally illogical. Burns got 5 points sat night from play and set up the goal for shaughnessy. What difference does it make if other players do all the hard work to set him up? He's in the full forward line, his job is movement, win the ball and score. The same as gillane et al for Limerick, o donnell from Clare etc. the only way to convince people to play him but he won't be given the chance in the championship. Notably, he was galways best forward against Dublin in Parnell park in championship, he set up lots of scores.

I heard leen had been called in to train with the seniors as did callanan from ardrahan who is the same age. Niland, rabbitte and Murphy were all called while they were playing post primary hurling last year
