You were the one who saw a pathway for "this current Galway team" to beat Tipp, and win the semi final and be in the All Ireland final this year. Big swing in opinion of Galway's ability all of a sudden.Welcome to the real world.

Dubs were probably saving themselves, figured they didnt want to play Tipp then Cork. They often beat you, and beat Limerick this weekend. Only 2 points at the 65 minute mark in our game against you despite playing our worst game of the year. Hardly won 4 at a canter so.

Yes the real world been laughed at by the Tipp supporters in the GG as Sheedy said on TV Galway just gave up and threw in the towel and as you said I'll go to the game more in hope.....so what bonus did you get from it? Spot on, thats where we are at on our day we could beat Wexford or Dublin one day ... and lose to them the next! We are not going to beat KK and we are going to get hammered in the playoffs. When I saw Conor Cooney starting I knew we were screwed. This is not going to change overnight the supply chain is broken and the players are not there, we have Cooney, Flynn and 35 year old David Burke( he played well in fairness) on the cusp of the team. Lets not look at getting to a semi or AI final in senior lets see if we can win a couple of minor or U20s or at least get to the finals and be competitive as stepping stone. MOD has 4 years and Im afraid hes going to need all of them

Think MoD will have to start picking lads on merit from the Galway club championship and giving them real game time rather than lads living off past glorys. Forgot about "they're training well" and start going with how they're playing in matches. BigBàsMan (Galway) - Posts: 154 - 22/06/2025 19:04:49 2619961 Link 0 |
Your not going blowing about the Loughrea lads again......they got plenty of chances since the start of the League and none of them set the world alight.

It was disappointing to see changes before throw in where the younger players were dropped. I am not sure MD is able in his own head to trust any new young player when push comes to shove. This would be a cancer to development. Maybe it's a 2 to 3 year project for himself . There are many many more questions after yesterday.

In all fairness Wexford could have hurled from then until now and never looked like winning that game. Galway we always in complete control and the 10 point margin was a fair reflection in the same was Tipps 9pt margin yesterday against us was. The dublin game vs galway... it was over with 10mins to go. Dublin scored 2 very late goals and still lost by 5 points. And the offaly game was a canter, as was antrim one. But delighted for Dublin. I really hope they back it up with another performance against Cork. if they produce the kind of performance in last years leinster final where they rolled over and let Kilkenny tickle their belly by 16 points then we will all wish Limerick had won. mr305 (Galway) - Posts: 60 - 22/06/2025 23:29:12 2620055 Link 0 |
Incredibly disappointing. Structure of the team is wrong, to start with we need out toughest men warriors in the backline, TJ Brennan was a colossus when he was introduced- him and Fintan Burke arguably our two greatest warriors have to be on the team, Lee has potential maybe as a midfielder, Cianan Fahy was doing well all year at midfield , I have seen no advantage to having him at Number 5, Personally Id have him in the half forward line and he would provide a much needed ball winning option and athleticism Tom Monaghan is lost with the physical stuff but perhaps he could be useful as a roving midfielder the forward line overall is proving very disappointing. Mannion and Whelan to be fair are doing their best but we continue to struggle with the other four. Ive always has question marks over Donoghue- the All Ireland in 2017 - the spade work at the end of the day was done by the previous management- the much maligned but underrated Anthony Cunningham (there is something very passive about him and I just wonder about his motivational skills- anyway I dont want to make that the main point of my post,) Anyway hoping there are better times ahead. Daithi Burke, the Mannions, Whelan, Fahey, Morrissey , Fintan Burke, TJ Brennan, Lee Can we find seven to ten more who can properly develop and make us a proper team again, to conclude Liam Sheedy made a good point about the players already reading in to the "four year plan" A contact of mine from the hurling heartland of Loughrea telling me before Kilkenny that "there was absolutely no expectation for Galway hurlers to do anything this year" this unfortunately seems to be the mentality of the players themselves also, A lot of soul searching ahead.
