The proposal to get rid of the teams who won't win ever is the right job. As I said before Galway hurling is the triangle of loughrea athenry and gort and the clubs in between. With a couple of minor tweaks. Far East Galway clubs need to improve themselves rather than let the standard drop their level. clare_sparrow (Galway) - Posts: 441 - 03/02/2022 20:28:05 2398228 Link 1 |
After JC of course!

Exactly. And i actually fear for said clubs as their attitude is terrible . What is that saying to their youths, 'dont play for club if we arent senior' (BTW the argument that they have low numbers - yet still think they should remain senior was another side splitter) Was i correct in reading that their towns become extinct and removed from the map once relegated???? :( CillTormoir (Galway) - Posts: 518 - 04/02/2022 09:23:31 2398251 Link 2 |
You'd know far better than me and I wouldn't argue with you. But I would say John Connolly and Joe Cooney would be in with a shout.

The holy trinity of JCs. Canning, Cooney and Connolly.

Amen to that. Maybe Shefflin should only pick lads with JC as their initials! We'd be unstoppable! Galway Abu.

You must think our club championship is very poor when 7 of the 10 teams are hurling senior and you think they are performing at junior level

With Burke as the captain for year,do Galway supporters also expect mcinerney to start..looking on from outside I don't think both can be on the same team anymore as pace is a problem.. I also take it that joe cooney starts.. CTGAA10 (Limerick) - Posts: 2500 - 05/02/2022 18:05:21 2398450 Link 1 |
So let's break down what you are saying. You think the senior championship should be 12 teams which means the senior A group.Senior B them becomes intermediate and intermediate then becomes junior A.So you think one of our stand out forwards in Conor Whelan should be playing junior A.Good job you are not in charge because it wouldn't be a revolt it would be a mutiny.

In limerick a lot of our senior hurling panel are not playing with senior clubs..for years there were to many senior clubs in our county.with the changes made all completions are now at a higher level..premier intermediate has been outstanding..just because a club has spent years as a senior club doesn't give them a right to stay there..tipp have same problem for years with way to many clubs playing at senior level. I didn't hear Gillane tuttuting about McInerney's 'pace', when he steamrolled through him in Croke Park at the 2020 semi, hospitalizing the Limerick ace overnight for 'observation'.

I'm not talking about running through anyone,I asked a question about pace..if he is taken on and ran at,I don't see him having the legs to cover..just a side note gillane ended up with an all ireland medal.. CTGAA10 (Limerick) - Posts: 2500 - 06/02/2022 13:28:23 2398546 Link 0 |
Why cut it to 12? I mean where is the logic in that, it's a rotten number for competition purposes. Is it this idea that 'Kilkenny have 12' and we must copy them? That's going well for them, we've won a senior All Ireland since they have. 16 is the correct number if we must cut, the line between 12 and 16, or even 12 and 20, is thin enough and on a given day rankings could alter. I'm not in love with the idea of outside interference as it's nobody else's damn business how we run our competitions once we provide a team on schedule for the Club AISF, but if we do cut, we should go to 16, 4 groups of 4. The talk was that at first they were going to be able to get around it seeing's as we don't have to enter a provincial championship. Why should we have the same structure as a small county who haven't even 10 senior clubs. The problem with 4 groups of 4 is you get 3 championship matches and then no doubt a heap of preliminary QF and relegation games to make up the amount of matches,we should be left alone to sort our own county championship out,we haven't done too bad up to now producing all Ireland club champions.

Watch League Sunday tonight and you'll see some pace!! Mac never lacked pace. Quality of his performances last couple of seasons meant his starting spot was up for grabs but he's started this year in flying firm.

"Is it this idea that 'Kilkenny have 12' and we must copy them? That's going well for them, we've won a senior All Ireland since they have." This must be one of the most stupid comments I've seen on Hoganstand. Cockney_Cat (UK) - Posts: 2734 - 06/02/2022 21:17:47 2398742 Link 0 |
Since Limerick just lost to Wexford they'll be an even tougher obstacle for Galway. I think this is great at this stage of the year. This is the kind of match that will help Shefflin weed out whoever needs to be weeded out. I heard a lot of names I wasn't familiar with while listening to the match. I'm glad lads are getting a chance to show themselves. Galway Abu. Trump2020 (Galway) - Posts: 2487 - 06/02/2022 21:48:10 2398752 Link 0 |
Why not? Hes practically playing Junior A anyway - all but in name. Tipp have the exact same problem but clubs are only fooling themselves.

Can someone post what intermediate will look like when the 8 teams come down. Who will the 16 teams be playing it?
