The big game at Junior level will be Boherbue v Gneegvuilla in thesemi final..they are very close ..only about 10km apart..Gneeguilla will probably hold that match themselves...there would be very big interest in that in the Duhallow /East Kerry area..hopefully they play at home or Rathmore and not bring it back to Killarney to keep the buzz around it local..hope it is on the Saturday so I might get out to it and have a look bennybunny (Cork) - Posts: 3917 - 09/12/2021 12:34:25 2392185 Link 0 |
Thanks for that Benny, that junior semifinal game between Boher buí and Geenevguilla sounds like a game I'd go to myself, years ago myself at the wife would follow all these games around munster and beyond, but the Covid has made us a bit lazy. Newmarket must be good to come out of Cork but ya corrofin from Clare will be handy as well, Na Gaeil have Jack Barry out with Covid but he could be back, I saw Diarmuid O'Connor played the final Saturday with his hand bandaged, that was dangerous considering he only had an operation on it the week before to fix the fingers he damaged against the Stacks. Na Gaeil will walk the intermediate being honest. Thought Jack Barry was injured. Didn't know it was Covid. Obviously he would be a loss but he will definitely play on 19th. Even if he didn't they will beat Drom Inch. They are almost a senior club anyway (Obviously they are now) having 90% of St Brendan panel (God help St Brendans next year) as it is. Stefan Okunbur will be a massive addition to Kerry next year so he'll lord it at intermediate club level. But look these matches are so hard to predict as there is very little to go on. Newmarket have plenty of players themselves that played in two Cork County finals with Duhallow. I'll definitely keep an eye on that Boherbue/Geneeguilla fixture If it is on in East Kerry/Duhallow location , I'll head out the road to sample the atmosphere because it will be great. If they try and milk it by bringing it to Killarney and having a thousand or two rattling around Fitzgerald Stadium then I'll pass.. bennybunny (Cork) - Posts: 3917 - 09/12/2021 21:18:33 2392254 Link 0 |
Ya I wouldn't blame you for giving killarney a miss Benny as its cavernes with only a few thousand at it although the fact this is a semifinal they might leave it in a local ground. Saying that, it's Cork and Kerry so they'll probably try and milk it :-) Ya St Brendans are decimated now with Na Gaeil gone senior and I'm looking forward to seeing a bit more of Okunbar. Well done to Kerry's 3 All-stars; all fully deserved. foreveryoung (USA) - Posts: 2194 - 11/12/2021 09:33:10 2392366 Link 0 |
Sound man, I'm not a massive all star fan but I'm happy for the lads that won them. I had picked Mcgeary as my player of the year months ago, he was fantastic all year and consistent in every game. KingdomBoy1 (Kerry) - Posts: 14092 - 11/12/2021 11:16:00 2392373 Link 1 |
So I just read that kilmoyley won again at the weekend and are in the intermediate munster final, well done to them and best of luck in the final after Christmas. KingdomBoy1 (Kerry) - Posts: 14092 - 14/12/2021 12:23:33 2392802 Link 1 |

And with both Clanmaurice and Kilmoyley flying it with the sticks, it's turning out to be a great year for Kerry.

So Kerry play limerick in the McGrath Cup tonight in Tralee. KingdomBoy1 (Kerry) - Posts: 14092 - 05/01/2022 12:59:49 2393665 Link 1 |
That was a big win for Kerry last night..one thing I noticed was it looked like a championship team..now is it that he doesn't know about Geaney and the cliffords or is it a case of putting limerick back where he thinks they belong??id like to know what he actually learnt about that starting team last night?? Absolutely nothing probably. Jack O'connor has three games to win in June/July...AI QF, SF and F. He doesn't have to change much as they were extremely close. It will be the Geaneys/Spillane and Clifford's that will get him over the line. Putting out a new 15 last night is much of a muchness. Try a new 15 would be fine but he would not learn anything v Limerick anyway (with respectI say this). An A v B game in Kerry would provide much better opposition than any of the other Munster counties to any of Jack's new recruits and I doubt many are better than what he has (ie Cliffords etc) so he went with what he has. Result is also much of a muchness to Limerick. Kerry will win the Munster championship. For the other 5 Munster Counties, our real championship starts in January. Proposal B was defeated but doesn't change much in terms of emphasis for the other Counties. Limerick did well in Division 3 last year and have a chance at Proposal. Tipp will be focused on getting out of Div 4. Clare, Cork and Waterford are focused on improving levels. Kerry are focused on only the three games in the AI series. Munster games and their results are mere kickabouts for all involved. bennybunny (Cork) - Posts: 3917 - 06/01/2022 13:20:14 2393807 Link 0 |
I asked a semilar question myself yesterday, why play Clifford and the likes but it was said that sigurdson starts next week so the likes of Clifford and O'Shea and others will gone off the panel for the Tipp game.

Seen Okunbor getting cleaned out against Kildare in the U20 championship four years ago. Is he really the answer? summerof09 (Meath) - Posts: 327 - 06/01/2022 16:25:26 2393834 Link 0 |
Hard to know, but it can't hurt to have a look at him in a few different positions, he's very athletic.

What was the thinking behind playing such a strong team last night. Surely the first week of January in the McGrath cup should involve mostly debut and extended panelists. Gaa_lover (USA) - Posts: 3586 - 06/01/2022 19:13:03 2393862 Link 0 |
Supposedly a lot of the Kerry players from last night will be playing sigurdson from next week on, so I'd say it was just a case of Jack getting a look at a few lads before the league.
