Foley is definitely a full back. He has no other position other than corner back and a full back line player if his size is going to be at full back. Lots of players play different positions for their clubs but Foley plays full back for his divisional team. I think Foley is a good full back although not a great one at the moment anyway. Ya as horsebox used to say maybe it's horses for course, not every full forward will suit Foley, if the full forward is physically big then maybe Okunbar although Casey doesn't seem to have a problem with any type of full forward so maybe he's our guy.

Ya it would be nice to see them win it now, Theyr playing Naas in the final, they must be good if they came through leinster and beat the Connacht champs.

I know that Kerry have the captaincy rule, and its tradition. However, I can't see it being good for either Joe O'Connor or the team that he's been nominated for captain. He's quite young and a relative newcomer to the inter-county scene. He's not a nailed down starter (has the potential to become one… that's not my issue). And he wasn't even captain of Stacks. Has Dylan Casey not been drafted into the squad? Again he's young and inexperienced (inter-county-wise), and not a definite starter either. The captaincy question only seems to be a problem those not involved with the team in any form, and those outside the county. I remember when Ambrose O'Donovan was selected by the Crokes. The shouts of dismay reached far outside the county bounds. Jacko, Pat, Mikey, Liston, were better suited and should have gotten the honour. He is too young, an untried newcomer. I agree with you Forever. Its a silly situation as the captain is not guatennteed to play at all.

I remember but it was Killarney that selected Ambrose. Crokes played with Killarney that time along with Legion in the county championship. Diarmuid Ó Donoghue (James s Dad) was nominated captain but then he did nt make the team so Killarney nominated Ambrose. It was Ambrose s first year on team but Kerry won Sam. In 2001 Séamus Moynihan was nominated captain by Crokes as they had no player on team. Then Eoin Brosnan came on as sub in Múnster final and nailed down a starting berth for semi final v Meath. Crokes then wanted Brosnan to get captaincy and Moynihan was stripped on captaincy. I remember all the talk before sem was the captaincy and the white jerseys. Anyway Meath then destroyed Kerry by 15 points. Afterwards there was talk of changing the captaincy rule but it died a death. It should be changed.

Yerra back in the day when nobody gave a hoot about Gaelic football. Back when a very amateurish approach sufficed. Teams in the north couldn't even train becoz of the situation up there then. Sure, didn't Darby drink a bottle of whiskey the night before the '82 final and still come on and beat Kerry! Picking your captain was as easy as picking your first 15 in those days. These days teams earn their AI final wins: centers of excellence, academies, proper funding and player welfare, strength & conditioning, nutritionalists, psychologists, stats, 36-man panels, etc., etc. It's no longer going out and just lumping the ball down the field. The smallest of margins can mean the difference between getting over that victory line or not, as Kerry are finding out to their cost over the past 4-5 years, so having the right man as captain in the advanced modern game, could mean the difference between victory and defeat. foreveryoung (USA) - Posts: 2194 - 25/01/2022 19:59:42 2396473 Link 0 |

I saw the Meath Jersey on telly the other night and it looked traditional enough, I'd put a lot of the blame for the blandness of Jerseys on O'Neills as they pretty much have no competition, I'd love if we went back to Addidas and see what they'd come up with.
