Think everybody already knew Wexford Park isn't that handy for anyone Pikeman. Parking can be a nightmare as can be the traffic in and out. Its often took me well over 40 minutes from my door to the turnstiles in the Park and I'm only 13 miles away from it.

And you wouldn't even know it was on given that in their wisdom, they have stopped live streaming the matches. Not making money it seems, but surely it's more about providing a service for those that can't attend games. Absolute disgrace.

your joking????? typical gaa, its all money, its always bout money, never about proving a service, disgrace is an understatement, why did they not see out the football then try get it sorted for next year? typical they dont give a toss for people and they had not the manners to tell us users of the service, total disrespect, thats why businesses dont make money ,they dont respect the people they are serving

Why would you provide a loss making service? Would you go do something if it was going to cost you money. If people want to go they can go. There was no such thing 3 years ago.

What % of senior football games are streamed in other counties? People are voting with their feet. Bellefield was almost empty last night and almost anyone who was there was from Gusserane. Onfor15 (Wexford) - Posts: 531 - 10/09/2022 09:44:53 2440192 Link 0 |
You are surely missing the point. Putting the cart before the horse. You need people in Wexford to become football fans first. You need more top players and more supporters involved in the game here. Then a business might stream games. That has to start from the grassroots. In the clubs and schools. Same as hurling has to start there in predominantly football counties. Problem is that football has become a boring watch. Same as soccer. I am a football fan. But nearly all the games I've watched in recent years weren't very exciting compared to the hurling games I've seen. I watched a great u11 hurling game between our u11s and Crossabegs last night. It was far more entertaining than the game I watched in Patrick's Park last Friday evening. Viking66 (Wexford) - Posts: 13650 - 10/09/2022 11:03:49 2440199 Link 0 |

A loss making service?? I assume Niall Williams, appointed to oversee the development of....you guessed it, hurling, is doing it on a voluntary basis then if they are so worried about making miniscule losses in the grand scheme of things? Meanwhile, they can't even give a lad a free bag of chips from Sharkeys to do a token two-minute preview of any football game, nevermind have the decency to inform the punters (or stakeholders as they like to call us whenever they are publishing their latest 'strategic review') that they aren't streaming matches live. It's been a wonderful service, I like many others have family abroad who tune in to watch games, but its deplorable they just binned it not even halfway through the football season. And as far as I know, we haven't invented teleportation yet. Hard to go to a game if you are caught elsewhere, but very handy to have the option to stream it at least. beano (Wexford) - Posts: 1451 - 10/09/2022 11:21:50 2440203 Link 0 |
when your emplying lads are staying home watching it on line, then it must be a sucess

People are voting with their feet all right. However most fans would have made choices. Hurling is far and away the number one sport in this county. Football attendances have been falling hugely over many years. With the massive rise in fuel and food costs is it any wonder that people will stay away from poor quality football and save some money. The games so far are very poor. Word gets around and so you get a big turn off. No easy solutions I'm afraid. Unless our fortunes change with a new manager ( eventually) coming on board and we manage to get out of that dreadful 4th division our attendances will continue to decrease in club and intercounty. You've said twice now in two different posts that streaming has been stopped/binned. What evidence have you for this? Onfor15 (Wexford) - Posts: 531 - 10/09/2022 12:24:10 2440210 Link 0 |
I'm saying the exact opposite. People are not staying at home to watch it. They are staying at home to avoid it. There was no stream last night, yet still the crowd in Bellefield was awful. Onfor15 (Wexford) - Posts: 531 - 10/09/2022 13:06:01 2440214 Link 0 |
I say more like three quarters. The old football guard of waters and Lyng etc..are all in their last year of very close to retirement
