Replying To Stmunnsriver:  "one of the players named 4 wexford plsayers to me that could not start because of injuries, heffernan was one, michael furlong , turbitt 2 more, cant remember other 2 names he said"
Gavin Sheehan anyway. Perhaps Jim Rossiter, though he has been plagued by injury recently and hasn't really featured.

This article I think sums up what the issues were coming into the game

Congratulations on beating Offaly. I didn't see it coming. Great win.

I didn't realize that there was a Wexford football thread. I posted my congratulations over on the county hurling thread. It seems that my warm words weren't exactly welcomed, and I was directed in no uncertain terms over here.

The mind boggles…

So, heartfelt congratulations to a proud footballing people.

For a lot of us in Wexford its not one or the other, we are part of the GAA and love both games, if lads or girls (hopefully it won't be long before they are officially part of the GAA) don't want to play one then hopefully the other will stick. Give them choices and they will find their own levels, push kids one side other the other and ultimately the kids and the GAA will be the loser overall.
As I have said it was a great day for the lads who played, I don't see it as turning a corner or anything like that we have a long road ahead and unfortunately there is just not enough investment in the grassroots at the moment.

Appreciate the congratulations

We were. How far off are Sheehan, Heffernan and Rossiter? Will they be fit for the Tailteann Cup if we lose to the Dubs?

i meant from having all men available, which a struggling team would need

Isnt it annoying to be playing the Dubs in the park now when we are a division 4 team.

Back over a decade ago was when we needed to be getting those games in the park and see what may have happened.

Ha, You are without doubt the most bitter person on this forum. You hate wexford hurling and have been caught out some many times over the years it unbelievable, I can't actually understand how you have the neck to be still posting on these threads. If the footballers were going well and beaten all around them you be on the hurling forum rubbing it in and poking fun at the hurlers, I say you were so happy after dublin win Saturday night.

Back to the match, I dont think wexford will get beaten by that much at all, the dubs are not going well, now I know we are very poor but that win will give the team a boost.

So much material to choice from:) Sadly the footballers are one of the worst teams in Ireland, playing division 4 football (the lowest grade), playing the likes of London and Waterford and the underage teams havent got past the first round in one of the poorest provinces in Ireland in years.it sad but true. But you prefer to make fun of the wexford hurlers.

As for me having limited vocabulary, ya you are right. I don't really have a great level of education but why should that be held against me.

I honestly don't see much hope of us doing well on Sunday. If Dublin are going to do anything this year they will have to come out of the blocks quickly and I can see them giving us a good beating. I just hope it doesn't get embarrassing.

Like last year I hope the lads at least go out an have a cut at them. The will be a lot of pressure under Dublin to deliver in this game and I think if they are going to be considered contenders this year they need to be winning this game by about 15 points. The important thing for Wexford is that for a second year the lads will have played against some of the best footballers that have played and still playing the game.

Are the wexford minor footballers still playing or are they knocked out?

23 points but not embarrassing. It reflects the reality of where we are and where Dublin are in the pecking order. Despite being relegated nobody ever believe that would be the decline in Dublin and they showed yesterday that the hunger and desire is back. The team never gave up and battled to the end, the kickout strategy and playing against the wind in the first half were not well thought out. Kicking long into the wind in the first half just made no sense, We did win far more ball when we had runners moving for the kickouts but it didn't make much difference. There are complaints and complements you could have about the players but what's the point, we don't judge ourselves against the likes of Dublin - the league is our measure of success in terms of development. The Tailteann Cup now and depending on the draw we may get another game as I don't seriously think that we will make much of an impact on that either.

After last years showing Zinny, 23 points is embarrassing.
We literally tried to hold possession without any attacking intent throughout.
Yesterday was a desperate advertisement for where the game is in the county, it reminded me of those sort of beatings off Kilkenny in the early 00's.
Bad weekend for GAA in the county so far, 2 down 2 defeats 2 to go and we need 2 w's to lift the thing.

Total mismatch but it needs to be parked. Some of the most entertaining games so far have been Wexford/Offaly, Wicklow/Laois to name a few. The Taitleann cup has to be used as a stepping stone to better things, Wexford have to want to win in their county colours not just represent and this cup must be taken seriously with some incentive.
