Well done to Tyrone. Despite not beating Kerry,Dublin and Mayo in the last while ,they have been very consistent over the years. To their credit ,they have now built a tradition of winning; of rebuilding and coming back. They have demonstrated this at minor, under 20 and senior level. Since 2000 only Dublin have won more All Irelands in total. I am not sure if this team can win back to back but we can expect them to get even better and be there abouts. It is hard for other counties to copy the financial power and tradition of Kerry and Dublin but people can look at Tyrone as the benchmark county and try and emulate that.

To Mayo, I guess it is better to lose 11 All Ireland finals then not to play in them at all. It means lots of good days to get there. Unfortunately it is another defeat hanging over them for a year...but not winning an All Ireland is hanging over all of us bar Tyrone. Not winning county championships is hanging over most of us ,most of the time too but we all get over it...after a short while you get on with it and go again.

If I remember correctly a few years ago the tyrone chairwoman at the time (she may still be there) was almost hounded out of the county for suggesting that the team might, just might, be best served by Mickey Harte stepping aside.
I'd love to know what she's thinking right now.

Well done Tyrone on winning this year's all-Ireland, I'll admit I was shouting for Mayo but Tyrone are well worthy champions and have got alot of unfair stick down through the years. Both teams gave us a good final but Tyrone were that little bit more organised in the back and had the better forwards to get the vital scores.

If Mayo are to win an all-Ireland they need to find a new goalkeeper and to find 1 or 2 top-class marquee forwards like a Conor McManus or David Clifford to get them over the line. Kerry have Sean O'Shea and the Clifford's, Tyrone have Mattie Donnelly, Darren McCurry and Cathal McShane and Dublin have Dean Rock, Ciaran Kilkenny and Con O'Callaghan, I don't think Mayo's forwards are up to their standards, if only they had someone like Ciaran McDonald now it would make a big difference to them. Hopefully they will win an all-Ireland sooner rather than later.

Very impressive Tyrone performance. They are a bunch of savages …. meant in the most respectful way!
I was up for Mayo but as they squandered chance after chance I just found myself respecting how good Tyrone were at closing them down.

Re penalty- what's this rubbish of the pause in the run up. Like many of the soccer players they only put themselves off!! Only the very best in the world can do that.
I'm done with feeling sorry for Mayo fans.

Brolly taking a lot of flak for his assessment in the Indo. Taking the emotion out of it and stepping back for a moment though. Is Joe Brolly wrong? Not at all. He's bang on the money about Mayo and he doesn't dress it up in flowery language. O'Shea didn't turn up AGAIN in an All Ireland, Mayo's sideline were reluctant to make the big calls and they mentally withered under pressure. Why is Brolly getting so much stick for giving an honest and truthful opinion?

Wanted Mayo to win to break their "curse" but Tyrone were excellent.

Mayo seemed to make the same mistakes Kerry made a fortnight ago, running into cul de sacs of Tyrone defenders and getting turned over. It's like they didn't watch that game!

Tyrone, apart from the missed goal chance in the first half (which was a good save) and two bad wides from a free and a mark in front of goal in the second, were clinical. Mayo on the other hand butchered every goal chance they got, and that's before we even mention the missed penalty!

O'hora was taken off with 20 minutes to go after making a lung bursting run into the Tyrone half and winning a free. What are people's thoughts on that decision? Commentators were suggesting it was based on GPS stats. Call me old fashioned, but coming into the last quarter of an all Ireland final, barring injury I'd want my best players on the field!

Well done to Tyrone. As already mentioned delighted for the likes of Harte, Donnelly etc. Was up for them yesterday, sick of the whole " 31 counties will be supporting Mayo " nonsense talk before the game. Felt like Joe McQuillan certainly tried to do his part for Mayo. Although he played well its disappointing to see such an experienced player like Keegan screaming in I believe it was McCurry's face after that miss, for all the physical talk that gets thrown at Tyrone, they were squeaky clean yesterday. Shows your strength and depth when you're able to bring the likes of McShane/Donaghy/Canavan off the bench. Enjoy the celebrations. All in all best team won so they're can be no complaints.

The final turned out to be a far better football game than I had anticipated; quite a lot of good football played actually. There was a lot of direct ball, and foot passing. I always fancied Tyrone to shade it.

I mostly based that on the fact that 12 of the starting 15 yesterday had played in the 2018 final. The 3 new guys were the two midfielders and McCurry; three very strong additions. People think Tyrone came from nowhere, and were rank outsiders at the start of the championship. That's not exactly true.

Then they could call on McShane who started at mid-field in 2018, and McCann who was wing-back that day. You can't buy that type of experience. Add in young Canavan, and young BenMcDonald, and overall, Tyrone has a very formidable squad.

Mayo also had experience from last year, but had lost Chris Barrett (savage defender), Eoin McLaughlin and Cillian O'Connor from that team; three significant losses. All these small margins add up.

Congratulations to Tyrone on winning Sam with an exhibition of speed, controlled aggression and skill.So many games are won or lost by poor management and this was certainly true yesterday. AOS had a poor game by anyone's standards and was left on the pitch for the entire game for some very strange reason. To have the non-playing captain on the pitch to collect Sam? Mentally Mayos players, management and certainly their supporters thought they had it won when they beat Dublin. Crazy mentality. One definition of stupidity is doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting a different result but Mayo aren't stupid, are they?

I truth, The Mayo players knew from a long way out that it wasn't going to be their day. I felt the knew Tyrone were better than them on the day. Their tactics were not working, they were always under pressure, could not find men in space and also could not get any joy out of long balls in to full-forward (admittedly they didn't try this very often). Tyrone looked fitter, hungrier, smarter and more skillful. Tyrone , when the broke , as allways seemed to have a man on the shoulder ready to take a pass whereas Mayo never seemed to be able to free themselves from the shackles of tenacious Tyrone tacklers. As a consequence Mayo's breaks inevitably ended up bring solo efforts up blind alleys where they were duly mugged of possession. I think the modern game st the highest level does not suit Aiden O' Shea and as a result he is not able to contribute much to the team. Of all the recent Mayo defeats, I think this was the most deserved, they were well off the pace required to win an All-Ireland. Both semi-finals were better contests than this one.
A quick word on the black card…. has it been discontinued ?. There were at least 3 instances yesterday when it should have been used. 2 as blatant as they come.

Same old Mayo, when will it ever change Never while they repeat the same mistakes year in yea rout, few examples playing players who are not fully recovered from injuries, two players were not fully recovered yesterday,this happened before in finals. failing to take off players who are not performing, failing to solve obvious problems with goalkeeper and fullback, not sure manager has full control of team selection , if he has then some blame must rest with him also.
