Anyway no more responding to my multi personality stalker. Back to game. Dublin as much as it breaks my heart to say it will win. What I suppose we are looking for is a strong performance. It will be interesting to see just how much Dublin put into this game. Think a big portion of that will only be seen if Meath finally find a good performance. If it's more of the same then I'd expect Dublin to just go through the motions. I just don't see Meath being as brutal as the last couple of performances, so if that's the case it'll be again interesting to see how Dublin react and what they are capable of at this stage. Missing some big names while blooding a few younger lads, it's as good a time as any for Meath to be playing Dublin. Dublin to win comfortably without hitting top gear. They might not win the All Ireland this year but they won't be far off either. Probably best to skip this unless you're a Meath or Dublin fan. Despite what I had thought after league I keep asking myself one question, Who would replace ? No obvious contenders. He has done well, but the team seems to have stagnated. A good performance here and then I actually think he should continue to develop the players. But who knows ? It's just I can't see any obvious contenders for the job, cb won't go outside county after banty disaster, can't just t he is someone in with no obvious track record again either. So really it's Andy until McCarthy is ready." You might be right. To be clear I think McEntee has done some good things, particularly bloodying young players but I feel our attack is one dimensional. We try to overrun teams with pace and fitness to create overlaps but that only works against weaker opposition. We haven't developed a system for feeding our dangerous inside forwards. Meath to beat Dublin by 5 or 6 points and Cluxton debate to end. Something wrong in Dublin Camp at the moment and will be exposed next weekend. Meath are no world beaters but very dangerous opponents for Dublin on their day. Emergence of Hickey has allowed Keoghan to revert to full backline. Harnan will not give in at midfield and serious options from bench with J. McEntee and M. Newman. Biggest concern for Meath is still GK. Have to admit I find it very difficult to engage with people about Meath GAA anymore. I rarely post on these forums either anymore, as in many ways these forums are like a collection of relatively hardline to hardline supporters, of all counties, congregating in their own echo chambers here for differing reasons. I sometimes enjoy the banter too of course as do we all, but I love analysing games and seeing other people's opinions on games, and could spend hours reading over posts from years back. Maybe that makes me unique here. Meath in particular has a very strange atmosphere and set of ideas around it. There has always been, in my time here (4 years), two types of Meath supporter: the deluded ones and the pessimistic ones. There are outliers to this but by and large the Meath contingent on the forums are in one camp or the other. I was always partial to the pessimists but got carried away every now and then with nostalgia and emotion with Meath, particularly in relation to playing Dublin. I can say that I do understand both camps and have allies in both, whenever I decide to add to the discussions. They are both, to be fair, two loud groups of people. How in the good green Earth that a page about a Dublin v. Meath game in the year 2021 can have pages, upon pages, upon pages of posts really is beyond me... In the many pages I struggle to see the points that people are trying to make. I fully agree that Dublin are weaker than they have been for many years and may well be defeated in this years championship, but how any football person can see the case for this Meath team to be that team to put them out is literally science fantasy. In the spirit of indulging the genuinely special and historic relationship that Meath GAA has with its fans, I invite the players to prove me wrong, to go out and do the job, and play 2/3 levels above where they typically play, I invite them to bury the hoodoo against Dublin. I invite people of the other side to be right, for once, and that maybe this team can produce one top-class performance. Maybe there is a kernal of truth in what they're saying, buried beneath reams and reams of mumbo jumbo. Genuinely I hope I'm wrong on this and I hope I can be broken. I hope my layer of pessimism can be broken through and I can dream like a boy about the games of the men in the green of Meath again, but as things stand, I really, honestly can't see anything other than a big blue tsunami. You need to take your medication as a priority dude, Dublin may well be beaten this this year but certainly not by Meath , i'd fear Kildare or Westmeath before I'd fear Meath but Leinster shouldn't be a problem for the Dubs. Dublin have not played a competitive game this year really and were very poor versus Wexford. Small is not available and was your best defender last year. No Mannion to change the dynamic going forward and P. Small is not of that standard. Its now or never for McEntee and I reckon this is their best chance. Hickey and Costello are top young talents, Morris too. My main concern is our kick outs from a keeper not of the required standard but that's it. To be it has become a 50/50 game which Meath can edge.
