These proposed rule changes are the most radical since the that meeting in Hayes hotel in 1884, surely the most casual follower of Gaelic football would understand this. tireoghainabu (Tyrone) - Posts: 351 - 14/10/2024 09:00:06 2574706 Link 2 |
It's the first time in history that they are try to introduce 7 changes at the one time… Why…? Because the game is muck… Now jog on lad .. but get your head out of the sand first…!

It is the invention of a new game. Same as GAA in 1884 tried to codify the different versions of football that were played around the country,

There was nothing wrong with the game Barney in its original form barring a couple of minor tweaks but silly rule changes in recent years and the more reliance on the dreaded paid coach or manager has the game destroyed…. Now we have a raft of new rules coming in all at the one time to try and make the game more watchable… I don't know how on earth referees in club games are going to cope…!

So what? 7 rule changes doesn't mean anything other than the current leadership want to point to the work they've done as their own. Rule changes have been happening under every presidency, you can say it's because of the 'state of the game' all you want but you'll still be sat here crying that the game isn't played in default tactic mode like the good old days and the whole of Hogan stand will have to listen to a grown man crying about not being entertained every week. Pathetic.

You are missing the point. It is a new game. If someone who died in the 60s after watching the Kerry and Galway finals was reincarnated and brought to watch these games next weekend they would not recognise it. Be like soccer deciding that a goal is worth two or to do away with offside rule. BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 3223 - 14/10/2024 16:32:27 2574872 Link 1 |
For what it's worth I didn't want a load of rule changes to the game either. Most of them are suggested off the back of short term complaints like our Cavan friend not enjoying every game he watches. As soon as a new tactic is introduced by an innovative manager we hear cries of changing the whole rule book to counter act an in game tactic instead of finding ways to beat the tactic itself on the field like every other sport would do. Maybe a bit of an extreme example with the soccer their too Barney. If a 1960s soccer player was reincarnated to play the modern version he'd notice a lot of differences to the game too. Particularly fouling, technology and the use of subs. Sport naturally evolves with time but the GAA are far too reactionary to trivial aspects like tactics. Let these well paid managers earn their money and figure it out instead of crying for rule changes every year. Too many too often is no good for any sport. All these changes are because those at the top realise the game is muck and thousands are turning their backs on it because it's virtually unwatchable… If you are not able to work that out then you are even more delusional than what was originally thought…!

You're some fella for fabricating your own crisis. What about all the other rule changes down through the years then? Was the game always 'muck' and required change? or does it just conveniently suit your tantrums to say that these current changes are different from all the others before them? Also, you still haven't provided a single practical solution of your own that would 'save' the game if that's what you think needs to happen. If only complaining was a sport you could take it up and become a champion.

A few rule changes have came in over the last 10/15 years but never 7 at the one time… The reason for this…? The game is pure muck and unwatchable … The dogs in the street knows it but the deluded are still in denial….

You are the worst poster on here currently. Absolutely clueless. They are trying out the 7 rules in these exhibition games to see what works well. It doesn't mean all 7 are going to be there for championship next year.

Why would they be trying out any rule if they weren't intending to bring it in…? Are you daft or something..? Never in the history of the game were so many tried at the one time… Why..? Because the game is pure muck… You are definitely the most delusional poster on here and equally clueless when you can't see that… Get your head out of the sand … good lad.

You don't seem to understand how things work. It's a trial for the rules to see what works. It's not automatic for Championship. Good lad.
TheFlaker (Mayo) - Posts: 8191 - 15/10/2024 14:08:51 2575068 Link 1 |
I know it's not automatic but never before has so many rules (7 ) been trialled at the same time… Why..? because the game is now muck… and to think they are actually charging people in to see this nonsense…. It's akin to charging people in to see a training session… !!

How much did you pay into that club game you never actually attended a few weeks back?

Free to view on tv. Maybe watch the games and make your mind up during or after them?

They trial rules to see how the game adapts. The decision makers want to see what happens in certain issues that if they change something that some issue will improve. You love your hyperbole don't you. Debate the issue not anything else. And you have the gall to say to someone to get their head out of the sand... It's €10 but you'd know nothing about that as you never attended club games…. just spout bile..!
ForeverBlue2 (Cavan) - Posts: 3149 - 16/10/2024 10:12:10 2575218 Link 1 |
The people with there heads in the sand are those who actually thinks that there's nothing wrong with the game despite a group set up to radically change it… If that's not head in the sand stuff I don't know what is…?
