The more the GAA at leadership level bends over to accommodate our enemies, the more they despise us, Applies in any similar relationship.

Struggling to find any offending articles on the RTE site today, tbh. I see one on about questioning an AI Chatbot on the GAA alright but I found that humorous at worst. If that was what you meant, I think anyone would need to be pretty thin skinned to be in any way offended by it.

That RTÉ thing was mildly amusing alright.
Meanwhile I see where the ridiculous nationalised taxpayer bailed out FAI were told by Government they couldn't pay their CEO more than €250k per annum.
Then they went off and paid him €285k or more.

You couldn't make ut up!!

Replying To Galway9801:  "I agree with your point about us becoming hooked on cheap labour, and to an extent I agree with your point about irish people being more inclined towards immigration from eastern Europe, but to be fair there has been a lack of integration from immigrants of all backgrounds, including eastern Europe.
I live close to ballybane in Galway city and even between kids who were born and reared here in Ireland, there seems to be a lack of integration except in forced settings such as classrooms or sports clubs.
I don't see any real desire to come together from any community tbh, with most citizens, white Irish and non white Irish alike seemingly happy to not make the effort.

United Ireland my a##e."
Eastern Europeans in my experience have always been quite insular. Integration only really happens with the second and third generations but you have to force it like the Americans. But even they are growing weary of immigration again. People often forget that Amerixa had very strict immigration policies from the 20s through to the 60s.

I do queston those who say we should prefer migration from EE. It comes down to race. Not even religion. Freedom of movement is not something I'm strongly supportive of because I'm not convinced being European means a stronger possibility of integration.

Killingfields, you seem to be the most likely to be able to answer this question.I watched Munster game yesterday evening, there were a number of decisions on both sides in the course of the game that I found impossible to make sense of..the incident with jaeger might have been high but wasn't looked at..the o donohue incident for me was cheap and nasty, possibly career ending,if I'm right ref said it was reckless and dangerous but only warranted a yellow card, what then is a red card??also an incident at the end involving Hansen being injured wasn't looked at either..I'd also like your opinion on ref for Leinster game, myself I wasn't to gone on him as I thought he had a bad attitude towards players and liked to be centre of attention..it's not my first time thinking that of the same official, talks down to players more than to them..there seems to be different rules implemented almost every weekend, any idea the reason behind this?

Not the thread for it but....

Yeah ref missed a few things but they always will. Impossible not to.
Not a bad performance. It's as much on two and the refs assistants thihns weren't pulled as Frank alone.

I don't think the jack o incident was very bad. Horrible for him but a 'rugby incident'. There is criteria for what is a penalty only, penalty yellow and penalty red.

Thought ref in Leinster game was grand. Don't think his attitude was an issue way some players tried talk to him was a reading for his way of communicating with the players as well.

There is not different laws every weekend. Each ref will interpret areas of the law differently so teams have to adapt. The teams know this. They get a chat pre game with ref who sets their stall and what they want from each team beforehand

He missed the part where the initial beneficiaries will be the FAI's absurd claim to host the soccer competition for which completion is solely aimed at.

FAI are already looking for almost €700 million in State and Local Authority funding for their €863 million infrastructure "masterplan".

They say there's been "chronic" underfunding for more than 20 years while other sports (by which they mean gaelic games) got the lion's share.

May well be the case that GAA projects have received more, but fact remains that by far the largest single source of such funding has been the State Capital Grants (i.e. the "Lotto grants"), and that it's always been as perfectly open to soccer as well as the GAA to apply for it.

If soccer hasn't been able to put together applications and plans to the same high standard as GAA outfits, and hasn't been able to provide the same levels of matching funding, well then surely that falls at their own door.

Very true, Pikeman. Besides, much of the state funding that the GAA has received has helped to develop Croke Park and Pairc Ui Chaoimh, both of which have hosted both soccer and rugby games. Indeed, but for the IRFU and GAA, the FAI would have had no venue for its own international games for several decades, never mind being in a position to host a European tournament. There was no "underfunding" when Tallaght stadium was built, predominantly with state funding, I believe, and when the local GAA club requested that provision be made for playing Gaelic Games there they met with a flat refusal. Most League of Ireland clubs do not own their own stadiums - many are owned by local authorities. I could be wrong, but I am led to believe that over the years the FAI have done little to assist LOI clubs. God knows, we often complain about various things in GAA headquarters but we have never had anything like a Delaney regime controlling our association. I don't recall Duff having much to say when the Delaney scandal broke but he is always quick to have a go at the GAA.

Says a lot about Duff when he's in the company of the DUP and their gang begrudging the GAA something.

Bohemians last week got another 40 million from Dublin City Council. Only reason being they are pet team of woke politicians. Its more like an NGO or a political party than a sports club. Make a lot of noise for a relatively small and unsuccessful thing.

Soccer shower are biggest problem sport in this country has. Not a single piece of decent infrastructure but ya look at the GAA. The IRFU built landsdowne. It would still be nothing but talk if it was up to the FAI.

He'd want to look to his own organisation before criticising others. It's not as if the FAI are afraid to go cap in hand to the Government for funding. At least we have a pot to **** in and can sign our own cheques which is more than the FAI can claim to have.

Woke? Nothing more annoying than the term woke. Trump supporters and right wing headers love that term. You are showing your true colours on here post by post.

I agree with you Duff has some cheek, is the man living on the same planet as the rest of use. The GAA thru volunteers have one of not two pitches in every parish in the country north and south with over 90% of them put there without any government grants. It is a fact that we all pay huge tax on the fuel we use to drive to matches and sport gives our younf folk a great start in life experiences and discipline which follows. We do not pay our club players and we do not export our best players across the channel for huge sums. Duff needs to get a reality check, or is this a distraction to cover up the poor management he provides to his team- maybe he would do better if he concentrated on the job in hand.

Duff is renowned as an anti gaa man , has a massive chip on his shoulder against the gaa . Many soccer players like Niall Quinn , Seamus Coleman , Packie Bonnet have a great interest in gaa but duff is only interested in giving out about the GAA .
