The 2009 Hurling League Final was one of the most intense games you will see. Tipp went to Nowlan Park to lay down a marke,r and they did even though they came up short. Was the beginning of a great rivalry between those 2 teams.

All Ireland hurling final of 2001, Galway had won football. Tipp stopped Galway in Hurling. But ref was poor IMO.

The 1981 hurling final is great to look back on, especially the second half when Offlay came back to beat Galway. Not only was I at it but it was the first time offaly lifted Liam. I will always remember the throngs climbing the fences in a frenzy to get on the field at the end.
Second to clare '95 of course.

Replying To midlands:  "Personally I thought the 1982 final was the best of all. Despite the poor weather conditions there were incredible levels of skill displayed by both teams, including some of the best point scoring ever seen in Croke Park. Each of Offaly's three half backs kicked great points from play while the late, great Paidi managed two from wing back. Brendan Lowry, Tom Spillane, Matt Connor and Eoin Liston also had spectacular points. I watched a replay of the famous 1977 semi-final some time ago and I was amazed at the number of times players from both sides kicked the ball aimlessly, sometimes over the sideline. While it was a gripping contest between the two best teams of that era, I think the tremendous excitement of the closing ten minutes camouflaged what was otherwise an ordinary enough game, though it's probably heresy to say that."
I can't watch the 82 final anymore for obvious reasons, it was just a step too far for us against a brilliant offaly team.

Everything that could go wrong for us went wrong that day, Mikey having his penalty blocked was the big 1, if we had scored that it was game over.

Hi Kingdomboy1, as an Offaly person what I would say is Kerry were unlucky to loose in 82 fair enough, because kerry lost that final certainly didnt make that kerry team a poor team by any stretch, yeah the penalty was saved, Ime sure many a team kerry beat in the lead up to the 5 in a row attempt will say if we had scored such and such a free/penalty we "could" have won that game etc...Kerry got a bye to the 1980 Munster final too, and every other year Cork was their only real opposition in Munster, Offaly and Dublin in fairness had some tough games in Leinster over the late 70's early 80's, so infairness Offalys run to 82 final had more games than Kerry needed to get to the final..I am sure Roscommon will point to something that happened during 1980 final to say "thats where we lost that game"...look its swings and roundabouts...you will get the breaks but a time comes when the tide will change...it changed in 82 and Offaly won..C'est la vie" as they say...

Oh I can't wait for Laochra Gael TG4 Thurs 26th March 9.30pm!
Iggy Clarke the Galway hurling no.7 in the 70's and 80's
I'm sure they will show clips of Galways famous and sweet victory in 1980 when Iggy couldn't play in the Final because of a broken collar bone in the Semi Final and 50,000 Galway fans chanted his name when the Cup was been presented!

That was a cracking game in fairness.

2006 quarter final between Kerry and Armagh, that was one class Armagh team and in fairness they were unlucky not to win more than their one all Ireland.

I saw the first 5 in a row In 2018 when the kerry minors beat Galway in the final John boy

Also I saw the second 5 in a row completed last August when our kerry juniors also beat Galway in the junior final.

And I saw dublin complete the 3rd 5 in a row last September.

You also seen Dublin complete the first 5 in a row at senior football level, something that your great Kerry team couldn't do, feel privileged that you were there to see it last September!

On my way home from the 2012 All Ireland Semi Final between Donegal and Cork I was talking to a Tyrone man and he said it was the best match he had ever seen.If a Tyrone man says that about a Donegal game then that is some recommendation. Both teams were brilliant that day and it was Donegal's best performance of that period.

Sounds like the GAA need to stop giving money to the Kerry County Board!
