Replying To Square_B:  "Given your own stadium is costing €24mil with a 14k capacity (which is mad money also for a very simple design but anyhow), £170mil should build a whopper of a stadium. There's a good chance that could be brought to c£180mil if the Irish Gov matched the British Gov investment and more if the GAA and the gaels of Antrim contributed more. It's time the GAA got on with it and build as they're very lucky to get what they have."
14k capacity for 24 million V 35k for 315 million.....Is it been built in gold with leather recliner seats......

It's a tight enough site however there's no reason why a more simplistic design can't be put forward which caters for a stadium of c25k to 35k. And they need to get on with it quickly as costs are rising month by month according to Jarleth Burns.

Sorry I highlighted hurling as some seem to have ignored it.Dont see how the Ulster council have poor attitude towards hurling.

Are you serious, the Ulster Council treats hurling as an after thought but the same people will get their two complimentary tickets to the hurling final each year without fail and then tell all their pals what a great game hurling is.

Replying To Square_B:  "If the argument is location, well let's move everything on the Island to Athlone and be done with it. Central to everyone...

Belfast badly needs a municipal stadium but of course politics rules on that. It's sad in this day that grown men & women cannot agree on matters of progress."
Issues only arise when Casement is proposed as an alternative Provincial Stadium to Clones, when it openly can't address most of the issues that people have with Clones as a Provincial ground. So its not fit for that purpose despite a £300 million price tag, that is very worrying that people persist with driving the project in its current form.
If they gave Tyrone GAA half of the Casement budget (Approx £150 million) for a makeover of Healy Park, it would probably be >40,000 capacity stadium with decent facilities.

Hence why I stated that a redesign is needed to take account of the financial reality that the gap will not be bridged. The stadium design is based on a UEFA standard... clearly not needed anymore. No matter what happens, Belfast needs a GAA stadium and that's where it will be built.
