I think it was lazy journalism that put out the story that it was overaggressive training games. As Horan says journalists are welcome to go and watch the training sessions to see what's really happening.

You would never know there are 7 other teams playing this weekend, its wall to wall mayo coverage everywhere you look. Its getting a bit tiresome this whole Mayo psychodrama....whinging about Fitzmaurice, venues, throw-in times, injuries Pullhard1985 (USA) - Posts: 68 - 03/07/2019 11:40:02 2204820 Link 6 |

As a Galway man I wouldn't be at all concerned by the Mayo injuries - I am expecting a few miraculous cures before Saturday evening with some of these 'injured' players featuring; maybe they'll stop at Knock on the way to Limerick!

Would it not have been better for Mayo vs Galway to play in thurles with Cork vs Loais as a double header PyatPree (Cork) - Posts: 376 - 03/07/2019 16:26:25 2204999 Link 0 |
Indeed Mayfair, as far as i can tell Mayos 'desperately unlucky' injury crisis amounts to 2 players being out, Diarmuid O'Connor and relative newbie Mattie Ruane, Pullhard1985 (USA) - Posts: 68 - 03/07/2019 16:41:53 2205006 Link 3 |

Absolutely! And with all this wall to wall coverage nary a mention of the fact that Galway's Lee Keegan is out injured. Bloody media.

Well said. If a Mayo fella get's injured, it's treated like a death. Both Comer and Conroy haven't kicked a ball for Galway in the championship this year, guaranteed starter's. Whether or not Mayo get past Galway this weekend, which I don't think they will, they won't be getting into semi final's with that Super 8's group. dublin5 (Dublin) - Posts: 30 - 03/07/2019 20:29:43 2205116 Link 6 |
I think he is feeling the pressure connacht is no longer the cake walk it was last time he was in charge now he is over the 3rd best team in connacht. Lots of talk of infighting in the camp players falling out with each other and management. He also as injuries to deal with the fact he would not do the coin flip for home advantage shows he fears galway in both grounds. He may be the first mayo manager to lose both roscommon and Galway in the same championship hes under huge pressure.

Spot on completly unrealated nowadays. I wasnt going to bother replying to him but seeing as he is very upset let me explain I do believe a 32 county united Ireland would be a good thing as the average English person makes it quite clear that they either dont know or care about NI especially obvious since Brexit My comment about 3rd biggest city was a dig at a particularly annoying Galway poster and in reference to Galways claim a few years back to being the 3rd biggest city in the Rep. of Ireland which was just a nonsense boast brought about by how boundaries were interpreted. I do apologise but like alot of people south of the border I have a habit of confusing stats when it comes to "Ireland" as apposed to Ireland Breezy (Limerick) - Posts: 1236 - 03/07/2019 20:45:16 2205122 Link 1 |
Absolutely, especially when there's higher expectation on him second time around and because of his media profile. Not sure where, maybe Mayo News podcast, someone suggested that the newer younger lads in the squad and increased competition in training may have lead to an increase in injuries. But whoever started the story should at least have gone to some training sessions to make their story sound credible.

Hope this game isn't ruined by Galways negativity. BeJasus (UK) - Posts: 383 - 03/07/2019 21:10:31 2205142 Link 1 |

I heard that only lads who played in the 2013 All Ireland Final are allowed sit down the back of the bus.

Only a Kerryman would ask that question! I was in a pub many years ago in Portmagee when an elderly local lady asked me where I was from. When I told her Roscommon she informed me that she was up that way at a wedding a few years previously. "Where was that?", I enquired. "Carlow" she replied!

Mayo will definitely win this. Put your house on it (not mine btw). Might only be by a point and a dodgy decision at the death but Galway haven't got the stomach for this and Mayo do. Sindar (Roscommon) - Posts: 348 - 03/07/2019 22:08:57 2205183 Link 2 |
Clearly horan has no control over the senior players
