USFC 17.Fermanagh

(Oldest Posts First)

So the time has come around for another championship, there is no point talking about any other team than the one we face in 5 days time and that team is Fermanagh.

Yes they had a poor league and have lost up to 9 players from last year so we should have too much come the end of the 70 mins to get through to the next round of the Ulster Championship.

My hope for this summer is that we put teams away early and dont leave them hanging on to us so the still have a chance when they should off been dead and buried. We now have the fire power up front to beat any team in the country..........but we wont beat them by leaving them in the game long enough to have a chance to nick it of us like Dublin did in the league.

If we get this right starting on Saturday evening then it will set us up for one of the best Summers in our life's.

Best of luck to Management and team....one game at a time starting with Fermanagh........get it done quickly!!

Big Game this weekend, hopefully the lads can get the win we deserve after a good league. Any predictions on the team. Heres mine
Beggan
Wylie Wylie Corey
O connell Walshe Kelly
K Hughes Mc Adam
Dogan Carey K Duffy
Mc Carron O Duffy Mc Manus

I think Corey will start for only the man marking job on quigley due to his stature and power. Maybe mc carthy might be a surprise inclusion, if hes going to play a big part this year then saturday is a game he must play in. I still think one of Mc anespie, Mc carthy or ward will start, all depends on their performances in training and the game plan. Whats the story with this Darren Freeman lad, heard he has been flying in training and will make the matchday squad??

Looking forward to Saturday. I expect a tight game as League performances can be thrown out the window once the ulster championship starts. If we perform well we should win but nothing will be taken as a given after last year!

In the absence of Darren Hughes would Gavin Doogan not be the perfect replacement. Darren carries the ball well and makes bursts up and down the field. Doogan this year has covered more ground than probably anyone in the country! I would go with
Beggan
Kelly Wylie Wylie
Walsh Corey O'Connell
Hughes Doogan
McAnespie Carey Ward
O Duffy McCarron McManus

Good luck to all involved in both matches.

This is the time i'd go with , Corey or Drew will pick up Sean Quigley and if T.Corrigan plays then R.Wylie will pick him up , I'd rather have Kelly in the half back line, Our half back line has been quite good, especially the Dublin game, they are
up there with the best but they offer a lot going forward too and played a big part in the league
Doogan in midfield is a decent shout, he covers all all area's of the field so being there to take the ball from kickouts, be it catching, breaking ball or off Hughes isn't a bad option,
Ward will mostly likely sweep as will McAnespie, I've gone with Duffy in half forward as he's a good ball carrier, he's worth a few points and can he can take a goal as he often gets in those positions, he was effective enough v Dublin in around the half forward line,
No doubt McManus and McCarron will have plenty of men around them so McCarthy or Duffy should be free'd up this way,
Carey, Malone, Kieran Duffy, McAdam are not far off the starting team either and will be good men to bring on and do a job along with the experience of Gollogly, there's also the chance of Mealiff/Bannigan coming on and some stage and get some championship experience
If Freeman is on the team then who know's he could add something different to the team,

You boys are running scared. Lucky team with a lucky general. You will have enough this weekend but not against Cavan.

Good strong team selected.
No real surprises but I doubt if Karl O Connell will start at midfield.
I like the look of the full forward line....
Good to see Dessie Mone back in the subs also.
Best of luck to the team and management on Saturday...

Sour grapes over being relegated???
running scared must not be a bad thing if we manage to comfortably stay in division one

you do have to laugh at the cavan boys.. we put in our worst performance of the league against them and they still couldn't put us away.. they seem to be running scared of beating us.... all in all a string team against fermanagh. still not convinced by carey or McCarthy but hopefully they will step up Saturday evening

McAdam will step into midfield no doubt, with oconnell to wing back. Would not be surprised if MOR kept it tight at the start and went with kieran duffy instead of mccarthy but hopefully not.
Aaron Lynch carried to give an option at midfield. Still would like to have Gollogly on the bench, there is a place for him yet.

Wouldn't worry about the Cavan posters,
There will be changes , Can see K.Duffy coming in for McCarthy, Is Gollogy not on the bench?

McCarthy has been on fire for scotstown, his confidence will be up after getting game time under his belt. It would be another blow to his confidence if he doesn't start.
