Domhnall Nugent is set to make his first start for Antrim’s senior hurlers since 2023 when the Saffrons take on Wexford in their Allianz League Division 1B opener tomorrow (Saturday).
Nugent lined-out as a forward for the Glensmen from 2020 to 2023 before a string of injuries forced him to take a break from playing.
Last season saw him returning for his club St John’s as a goalkeeper as the Belfast side won a first county SHC title in 52 years, and Antrim boss Davy Fitzgerald has opted to hand Nugent the No 1 jersey for this weekend’s trip to Chadwicks Wexford Park.
Nugent’s fellow clubman Ryan McNulty gets his inter-county debut at right corner-back while there are also first starts for attackers Sean Duffin (Tir na nOg) and Jack McCloskey (Loughgiel Shamrocks).
