The exodus of top ladies football talents to the AFLW continues with another quartet signing for Aussie Rules clubs this week.
Geelong Cats have signed Waterford All-Star and captain Emma Murray as an other sport rookie for the 2026 AFLW season. Her capture takes the number of Irish players on Geelong’s primary AFLW list to four, joining Rachel Kearns, Kate Kenny and Aishling Moloney.
Aoife Horisk has joined Melbourne after starring in Tyrone's All-Ireland intermediate final victory over Laois this summer. She was the fastest woman in the 20m sprint at October’s AFLW Draft Combine, and is seen by the club as an aggressive half-forward with the potential to move to high forward.
Cork dual star Aoife Healy has also signed for the Fremantle Dockers on a two-year rookie deal. She lined out at centre back on the Cork camogie team which lost this year’s All-Ireland final to Galway.
“We first met Aoife during a talent identification trip to Ireland last year, and she caught our eye pretty quickly,” Freemantle AFLW list manager Darryn Fry said.
“We’ve kept in touch with her management and watched her progress closely over the past 18 months and have been really impressed. She’s tall, fast and highly athletic, with excellent repeat speed and a real competitive edge.”
In addition, Cavan’s Ellie Brady has committed to Collingwood as a rookie for two years. Hailing from Ballyhaise, Brady helped her county to an Ulster intermediate title this year.
“We’re excited to welcome a rising talent to our AFLW squad in Ellie Brady, and we can’t wait to see the impact she’ll have within our program. She brings her own leadership qualities and we’re looking forward to seeing her thrive in our environment and contribute to the continued growth of our program,” Collingwood Executive General Manager of Women’s Football Jess Burger said.
