Fighting Cocks reached their first Leinster club JFC final last Saturday with the help of a father-and-son duo.

Top-scorer Aaron Dowling was joined on the pitch by his father Mattie for the last 10 minutes or so as the Carlow club with the very distinctive name saw off Longford’s St Brigid’s, Killashee by 3-11 to 2-9 at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park to set up a final date with Grangenolvin of Kildare on Sunday week, December 14.

Aaron finished with a personal tally of 2-5, with his first goal in the sixth-minute setting the Fighting Cocks up for the win. 

"It’s a brilliant feeling, I never thought I would be so it’s special. Not many boys get to play with their father so it is brilliant,” the delighted corner forward told Clubber afterwards.
