Eire Og Carrickmore (Tyrone) are Ulster club intermediate hurling champions thanks to a 1-18 to 0-15 win against Lisbellaw (Fermanagh) in Clones this afternoon.

Sean Og Grogan’s goal in the 38th minute saw Carrickmore storming to their maiden John Vesey Cup success having been runners up in this competition on three previous occasions.

The Tyrone senior champions held a 0-10 to 0-8 lead with the help of Aidan Kelly and Conor Gorgan, with their Fermanagh counterparts having fallen six behind after 20 minutes prior to late score in the half from Sean Corrigan, John Duffy and Ciaran Corrigan.

Kelly (free) and Seamus Sweeney pushed the lead out to four again for the Eire Ogs and they wouldn’t look back once Sean Og Grogan crashed the sliotar to Lisbellaw’s net.

Kelly’s frees put eight between the sides midway through the second-half, with Duffy tacking on a couple of scores at the other end which proved consolation for his team.
