Kildare's Fergal Conway tackles Damien Comer of Galway

Cedral St Conleth’s Park will play host to its first inter-county floodlit game on Saturday, January 4 at 7.30pm when Kildare face Galway in a SF challenge.

In the absence of pre-season competitions, the visit of this year’s All-Ireland finalists to the redeveloped Newbridge venue is expected to attract a sizeable crowd. Admission is €15 for adult and €10 for students and OAPs.

Meanwhile, new joint-managers Mickey Harte and Declan Kelly will take charge of the Offaly senior footballers for the first time this Saturday, December 15 at 2pm with a challenge match against Coláiste Choilm, Tullamore past-pupils in Glenisk O’Connor Park.

The ‘match for Mumbai’ has been organised to raise funds for Coláiste Choilm’s long-running India Immersion Project. Fifteen students, two past participants and four teachers will spend two weeks in Mumbai in January / February where they will immerse themselves in what India has to offer and help young children less well off than themselves.

A number of past-pupils were on the Offaly senior football panel this year and they will line out for Coláiste Choilm. They include John Furlong (Tullamore), Declan Hogan (Tullamore), Cormac Egan (Tullamore), Jack Bryant (Shamrocks), Kevin McDermott (Durrow), Daire McDaid (Tullamore), Adam Bolger (Daingean), Eoin Carroll (Cappincur), Jack O’Brien (Durrow) and David Dempsey (Ballycommon), who now teaches at the school and is the new manager of its senior football team.
