Steven McDonnell will take charge of his beloved Killeavy for the remainder of their Armagh SFC campaign.

According to the Newry Reporter, the 2002 All-Ireland winning forward will fill the void left by Niall McAleenan, who stepped down as manager following Killeavy’s 0-8 to 2-16 Round 1 loss to last year’s All-Ireland club champions Cullyhanna last weekend. It proved to be the Warrenpoint man’s only championship game in charge of the South Armagh club, having taken over from Tommy Coleman at the start of the season.

All is not lost for Killeavy who host Culloville in Round 2 tomorrow evening before travelling to Silverbridge for their final group match on Sunday week. McDonnell previously managed the Armagh U21s as well as Killeavy and Tyrone outfit Clonoe at club level.
