Former Longford senior football captain Mickey Quinn has confirmed his inter-county retirement after 13 years with the Midlanders.

Quinn signed a rookie deal with AFL side Essendon in 2008 before returning home to play with his native county four years later.

That 2012 season would see Longford capture the National League Division 3 title after defeating Wexford in the competition’s final and, later that year, Quinn would earn an All-Star nomination.

In 2015, the versatile Killoe Young Emmets clubman would line-out for Ireland in the International Rules series against Australia.

Yesterday (Friday) saw Quinn announcing his inter-county retirement by posting on X: “On to the next chapter. 13 good years."
