There is shock and sadness in Monaghan GAA circles at the sudden passing of a former footballer from the county in Perth last weekend.
Cremartin Shamrocks have set up a GoFundMe page to support the family of Ciaran Carragher as they prepare to travel to Australia. Almost €80,000 has been raised so far as tributes to continue to pour in for the father-of-two, who was in his late thirties.
In a statement posted online, Cremartin GAA said: "Our former player, Ciaran Carragher died in Perth, Australia on Saturday, 15th June 2024.
"As a club and community we offer our thoughts, prayers and support to Ciaran’s entire family here in Ireland and in Australia.
"As a practical expression of this, following requests from several people in our community this GoFundMe page is set up to support the family as they prepare to travel to Australia to celebrate Ciaran’s funeral."
