Limerick will play Clare in the Munster senior hurling championship final for the third straight year after both sides recorded wins in their provincial fifth round encounters this afternoon.
Limerick scores a 0-30 to 2-14 victory over Waterford before a 34,187 crowd at the TUS Gaelic Grounds, where two goals from Shane Bennett wouldn’t be enough to save Davy Fitzgerald’s men from elimination in this year’s championship.
The points of Aaron Gillane and Tom Morrissey had helped the All-Ireland champions lead by 0-14 to 1-6 at the halfway stage and, despite the visitors narrowing their deficit to two via Bennett’s goal and points from Stephen Bennett (free) and Dessie Hutchinson, the holders dominated the closing quarter.
After substitute Patrick Fitzgerald made it a two-point game again for Waterford in the 55th minute, the Treaty men went on to outscore their opponents by 0-9 to 0-1 in the time that remained to move towards another Munster decider.

Clare will look to deny them at the third attempt after edging past Tipperary with a 1-24 to 0-24 victory in Thurles.
After last weekend’s results, Tipp were only playing for pride in this one and put it up to their fancied neighbours throughout as the scoreboard read 0-11 apiece at half-time.
Brian Lohan’s charges created some daylight after the change of ends with points via Shane O’Donnell and Darragh Lohan before bagging a Diarmuid Ryan goal in the 41st minute which ended up being the difference between the sides come the final whistle.
This afternoon’s results also mean that Cork advance through to the All-Ireland SHC preliminary quarter-final against either Laois or Offaly on the weekend of June 15/16.
