Three-time All-Ireland SFC winner Aidan O’Mahony has been left heartbroken following the sudden death of his brother John.

The former Kerry defender described his older sibling, who was in early fifties, as ‘special person loved by everyone’. Originally from Rathmore, John lived in Limerick with his wife Trish and children Mark, Katie, Molly and JT.

The beloved son of Kathleen and the late Thade, he will be sadly missed by his loving brothers Noel, Anthony, Kieran and Aidan, sisters Nora and Linda, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, aunts, extended family and a wide circle of friends.

Sharing a photo of himself, John, and his other brothers on his wedding day on Instagram, Aidan wrote: "Don't know where to start.

"Loved by everyone near & far, an amazing brother & such a special person - Love you so so much. RIP John."
