The death has taken place of Tony McGovern, after whom the home of London GAA is named.
A native of Aughavas, Co. Leitrim, Tony was a prominent figure in Leitrim GAA who also enjoyed success in the haulage, property and hospitality sectors. The stand in Páirc Sean Mac Diarmada, Carrick-on-Shannon bears his name, as does the London GAA headquarters in Ruislip which he provided financial support to during its redevelopment a few years ago.
“Tony has been a tremendous supporter of London GAA over many years, most recently owning the naming rights to McGovern Park,” London GAA said.
“Tony was an integral part of the fundraising team for the Ruislip development and each year was involved with the London GAA float at the annual London St Patrick’s Day Parade through central London.”
TweetIt is with great sadness for London GAA to hear of the passing of Tony McGovern.
