Conor Geaney struck for 1-8 as Dingle overcame Dr Crokes in the sides' Kerry senior football county championship opener in Tralee this afternoon.
It finished 1-13 to 0-14 at Austin Stack Park, where Geaney’s superbly taken goal on 51 minutes swung the pendulum the way of the Peninsula men.
The victors led by 0-8 to 0-7 at the halfway stage, with Geaney having registered 0-7 of their tally up to that point, before the points of Tony Brosnan and Mark O’Shea steered Crokes into the lead four minutes into the restart.
The Killarney side opened up a two-point lead and held it again with 10 minutes to go prior to Geaney being slipped through and lashing to the top corner of the net.
Crokes got back within one but couldn’t close the gap as the recently crowned county club champions continued their winning ways.
