The prospect of having no game for five weeks was a major motivating factor for Monaghan to beat Tyrone, according to Stephen O'Hanlon.
The former Ireland U20 basketball star, whose 57th minute goal was the catalyst for the Farney County's dramatic win in Omagh, jokingly remarked to the BBC afterwards that he didn't fancy training under David Drake until the All-Ireland SFC series comes around in five weeks' time. Drake is a renowned fitness coach who was previously involved with the Ulster and Worcester rugby teams.
"I tell you what. It's a blessing that we're not staring down the barrel of five or six weeks conditioning with David Drake," he smiled.
"I think that was as much of a motivation as anything, that we have a game in two weeks (against Derry). We laughed about that in the build-up to the game."
