Clare and Limerick opened their Munster MHC campaigns with wins over Tipperary and Waterford respectively last night.
At a rain-soaked Shannon, goals from Michael Collins and Marc O'Brien helped the Banner to account for All-Ireland champions Tipperary on a 2-15 to 0-14 scoreline.
In what was a repeat of last year's Munster final, Clare laid the foundations for their win in the first half when they built up a 1-11 to 0-6 half-time lead. O'Brien top-scored with 1-4, while Collins chipped in with 1-2. Robbie Ryan and Shane Buckley led the way for Tipp with 0-4 and 0-3 respectively.
Conditions were equally as bad at Fraher Field where Cathal Hayes' ninth-minute goal earned Limerick a 1-7 to 0-7 victory over Waterford.
