Wexford GAA issue maximum 96-week suspension after referee assault

Wexford GAA have handed down the maximum 96-week suspension

Wexford GAA has issued a 96-week ban on the club mentor that was involved in an alleged assault on referee Michael Lannigan and an umpire after a Junior A club football championship game.

The alleged assault happened after the match between St Joseph's and Our Lady's Island on September 25th.

St Joseph's mentor Glen McManus was also banned from attending games on his home pitch at Whiterock Hill following the incident.

The 96-week suspension is the maximum that can be handed down under GAA rules and the Wexford CCC has also hit St Joseph’s with a €1000 fine.
