Mayo edged a 1-6 to 1-4 victory over Galway last night at the Connacht GAA Centre of Excellence to move into the Connacht U20 football championship semi-finals.
With the sides having been level on 0-2 apiece at half-time, Mayo produced the second-half good to fire 1-4 without reply to set-up a last four date against Leitrim next Wednesday night.
Jack Fallon netted the goal six minutes into the restart to put the Westerners on the path to victory while James McLoughlin grabbed a late major for Galway at the other end which proved consolation.
In Parnell Park, Longford earned a Leinster U20FC first round win over Wexford to set-up a date with Meath next Saturday week on home turf.
Jack Duggan (2), Keelin McGann and Ciaran Scanlon netted the goals in a 4-9 to 1-7 victory for the Midlanders in the capital.
