Former All-Star Danny Sutcliffe has retired from inter-county hurling.
Dublin hurling boss Niall Ó Ceallacháin confirmed after his side's Walsh Cup final penalty shootout defeat to Galway on Saturday that the vastly-experienced forward has called it a day after 15 seasons in the blue jersey.
The 33-year-old was handed his championship debut as a late substitute by then Dublin manager Anthony Daly in the 2011 All-Ireland SHC quarter-final against Limerick. He quickly established himself on the starting XV after that and won both a Leinster SHC medal and All-Star in 2013.
The St Jude's clubman went on to line out for New York in the 2017 Connacht SFC against Sligo before returning to captain the Dubs under Mattie Kenny. Sutcliffe's decision to retire comes after he missed most of last season through injury.
