Former Meath minor football manager Joe Cowley has taken over Cavan senior side Arva for the 2026 season.
Cowley guided the Royal County’s minors for the past two seasons and will be joined in his new post by coach Stephen Clare.
A two-time Meath SFC winner with Seneschalstown, Cowley has previously managed his native club and also coached Inniskeen in Monaghan and Wicklow’s senior footballers.
He takes over an Arva side which reached the quarter-finals of the Cavan senior football championship this past season, pushing then holders Crosserlough all the way before bowing out in their return season to the topflight at the last eight stage.
Prior to that, the Longford border men backed up their intermediate championship success in 2024 with a run to the Ulster club IFC final later in the year, with the 2023/24 campaign having saw them capture county, Ulster and All-Ireland junior honours.
