Monaghan's 2024 hopes have been dealt a major blow with the news that Karl Gallagher has signed for the Adelaide Crows.
The 21-year-old becomes the first Monaghan man to join an AFL club after joining the Crows as a Category B rookie on a two-year deal. Gallagher, who impressed in the Farney County's run to last year's All-Ireland SFC semi-final, makes the move after taking part in Adelaide's pre-season training program before Christmas.
The Emyvale clubman was among the first Irish contingent to take part in the AFL Draft Combine over four years ago and the Crows had been tracking his progress ever since.
Starting off a new year with a new signing! Welcome to West Lakes, Karl 🇮🇪
