O'Dwyer makes All-Australian team

April 05, 2022

Orla O'Dwyer celebrates with the AFLW Premiership trophy.

Tipperary's Orla O'Dwyer has made history by becoming the first Irish women to make an All-Australian team.

The 2021 Premiership winner was chosen after an outstanding season for the Brisbane Lions in the AFLW. The late Jim Stynes from Dublin was included in the men’s equivalent in 1991 and 1993.

Orla's selection comes ahead of this weekend's AFLW Grand Final which will see Dublin's Sinead Goldrick and Ailish Considine from Clare go head-to-head in the colours of the Melbourne Demons and Adelaide Crows respectively. Goldrick was immense as the Demons dethroned the Lions in last weekend's preliminary final.
