All-Ireland champions Limerick went on a scoring spree to hammer Kerry by 30 points and advance to the Munster Hurling Cup final against neighbours Clare next Saturday.

It finished 4-29 to 0-11 in the Treaty County's favour at the TUS Gaelic Grounds, where Pat Ryan (2), David Reidy and Adam English bagged the goals for the hosts over the 70 minutes.

John Kiely's starting line-up showed only one survivor from the All-Ireland final victory over Cork five months ago - captain for the day Barry Nash - while Reidy (1-13) and Ryan (2-3) took the scoring plaudits.

The Kingdom were hoping to build on last weekend's famous win over Tipperary but Ryan's first green flag in the 12th minute had Stephen Molumphy's side very much on the back foot this afternoon.

Lining out against his native county, Paudie Ahern pointed for Kerry in the run-up to half-time, 1-18 to 0-6.

Limerick didn't let up on the restart with three successive points before Reidy buried their second goal via a 21-metre free.

The impressive debutant English - who finished with 1-1 to his name - then netted just before the second water-break as Ryan's second major rounded off an emphatic win.
